the chick from evanessence has a horrible voice. combined with the teenage rock sound i hardly like the band at all. i kinda think it was an attempt at the mainstream record companies in the us to cash in on the sound that certain european bands had been doing for some time. bands like nightwish, or theatre of tragedy (not that either band truely exists anymore). ive gone through the whole girly-goth-rock/metal phase (between binges of black metal and satanic country music) at least once, and what i got out of it is that there are a lot (seriously were talking thousands) of such bands and most just suck horribly, and a few that are badass. evanessence was definately in the suck horribly category. perhaps they matured and put out something decent, but the name is so tainted with suck in my mind that i would never check it out.
