Living your live purely by logic would make for an exceedingly dull life....

Let's see..... I go to university. And I can tell you that a lot of the faculty that aren't stuck up are more interested in hitting be pub and talking about their specialty, instead of just one or the other. ;)

I bet they are, but which one is this at? :D

You're basing rationality on expectations of behaviour patterns. Just because he doesn't exhibit the normal behaviour pattern in one area doesn't mean he's irrational in all others.

Plus, love and lust are quite irrational. It's just that we're prepared to accept and embrace that.

Alright, someone with an open mind! :D

Besides, I don't mind your views, they don't harm anyone except arguably yourself, and you seem happy with them. I reserve my most scathing criticism for people with entirely conventional views.

LOL, actually as I said before, these little discussions are quite useful to me because they allow me to make my ideas more precise and subject them to some tests. ;)

But being rational is subjective, therefore basing being rational on the usual behavioural patterns of people is logical, otherwise we would have nothing to base it on.

I agree. As I said, most people are prepared to accept and embrace irrationality.

Spice of life, etc etc... :p

I think it's good that FS wings and ships and all is named like they are now. I like those Alpha 1 and 2 and all... ;)

Thought this might be applicable here: ;)

Who doesn't prefer a well-worn belief to the chilly winds of uncertainty?

Also, rationality (application of logic to practical human affairs) is indeed subjective but logic and its extensions are not, so it must be made so. ;)

But that's not FreeSpacey enough! Use proper FS2 designations!

Simon Fraser.  Local one.  I've been around university people since practically I was born, and have been a science student for the last four years.  Both my parents work at a university, my dad is a PhD in chemistry and my mom is a masters.  Sure, faculty will talk about what they do research in, but they will also talk about their family, their recent vacation or whatever else.  They are people just like everyone else.

Skateboarding could be considered an irrational thing to do. Also i do want to bet that living by CP logic would make for a dull life, but then again, i'll probably here, what someone considers dull could be entirely different to another persons view blah and blah with some blah.

Another reason why I have little respect for them. :p

Also, this thread is expanding too fast. Give me some time to post on the other one, too. :p :D

You better believe it.  Some of the people here have such boring lives it seems.  I much prefer hitting the town four nights in a row to making FS missions or converting models, thank you very much. :D

For me, it is the latter, so that this is shown to be subjective in its current state.

Why do you not respect them?  Because they choose to be human?

Stop thinking about maths for a while so you have more time to post. :D

Edit: Seems that this thread indeed grows very fast, but not quite as fast as the HLP road trip one. :p

I had a great time in Berlin with my teachers - they were like me, but older.

No wait, that's not cool... :eek2: :nervous:

bah, you missed a few. :D

They just tend to get annoying after a while, since anything else could be used in place of them just as easily. :p

One of the reasons, yes. They go by what is accepted rather than questioning it, which in this case, is lifestyle. But who really cares about that. :D
