Good luck with that. I doubt it'll help much though, MacOS 10.5 has a bunch of bugs in its OpenGL interface that can really come back and bite you.

this mac was originally a 1.4 if that makes a difference. though it was upgraded to 10.5 by a disk..

The point is, your Mac is obsolete. Its operating systems has known issues, and you can't fix those without getting a new one.
