This is also one of my all-time favorites; I used it all the time back in the old days, as it was almost ridiculously powerful against just about everything and also made a cool firing sound.

One other weapon that deserves mention in my opinion is Deus Ex's Plasma Rifle; does widespread damage, quite effective in multiplayer and creates pretty visceral effects.

I really need to try out DN3D sometime; this is about the only really famous game since 1993 that I have not had a chance to try, and I am a fan of "abandonware" games anyway.

Woa, I thought much less people have actually played Battlezone I or II, but at least 3 people have played it who have replied to this thread. The full loaded MAG cannon in assault mode in BZII is also quite nice.

I used to play those two games (and still do) quite a bit actually. My favorite weapon in terms of performance alone is probably the Super Stabber in both games, as it is pretty good against everything and each shot does not eat up too much of the main ammo supply.
