I've also made this. I made the model in RealLife a few months ago, and decided to make it in MLCAD this week, and here it is:

Well, I intend to make it as big as possible, but not so big that it won't fit in a clothe-drawer. ;)

I haven't decided yet - I could use the pieces to build a ton of smaller Cruisers and such, so I'll leave you on a vote.. Also It'd have to be a White-Colossus, since I'm not going to paint the bricks ;)

But once I get a digicam or webcam I'll snap some pictures of my smaller thingies.

It did take me quite a while to build the ship, over a few days, but I doubt it took more that two hours overall. Mind you, as you say, it would only take about 20 minutes in real life. The main reason it took so long was the generation of ideas. A lot of the time I was sat thinking, so actualy build time might have been about 90 minutes.

Are you using the latest version of MLCAD? 3.00?
And the latest parts set, even the unofficial ones?

I have version 3 but my parts library might be out of date since the program gives fifty or so "such-and-such part not found" errors when I load it up. What files do I need to download from the ldraw site? I basically just want to render a real life lego technic model I have made into an ldraw dat file so no real brainstorming is required this time. :D

The last ship is an inspiration from a game called "Far Gate" it looked like it had a bunch of missiles up front, and I liked the design, so I built it!

You, sir, deserve a medal!

And btw, that ship I made came 3rd. THIRD! Out of four entries!

Too bad Petrarch, maybe next time!

I'm gonna try and build a TFC map. "Hunted" it's gonna be hard, but it's gonna look cool after it's done.

I was contemplating building all of Black Mesa in MLCAD, but I thought better of it...

The Freespace Lego Project
All...of...Black...Mesa?!

Whoa...that'd be pretty frickin' big...if you include all the "new stuff" from Opposing Force, and Blue Shift.

Exactly, that's why I realised what a stupid idea it would be.:D

I might still make the reception bit, though.

The Freespace Lego Project
Oh that parts easy!

I could do it in an hour, if I have the right pics, but I can do it from memory!

*goes to play with MLcad*

For a challenge, try making the robotic walky-box-carrying-loady thing out of technic.:D

The Freespace Lego Project
sure!

I'll do it in real-life, cause I suck at mlcad technic.

I'm keeping this thread bumped, as I now believe Lego to be one of mankind's greatest inventions, and the competition at PCG has been relaunched, so I will be submitting some sort of Uber-Entry.

I'll find it for you, but I doubt they'll let you enter if you're not a member of the PCGForum.

Here's the site, it's not much of a thing, as it's just a placeholder until the rules of the new compo are drawn up.
