Thunder/Kalfireth once changed his name. Dunno if it's similar to this instance but it's an example of a user's name being changed in the past.

Thunder's changed it again, as well. I had to heck whether "Fineus" was him or Maeg (who's also changed, though yonks ago now, to Martinus )).

That said, I'm definitely a fan of the "No nick changes" policy we've had for ages, however patchily it may have been applied. It's jarring, generally - I lose track of who's who.
