Still looking really game-y. And doesn't seem to have a virtual cockpit, which I consider a vital part for any flying game. Flying in 3rd person kills all immersion for me, and a HUD-only view is only slightly better.
Unfortunately it seems that the dials and displays in the supposedly present cockpit view doesn't seems to move though (even HAWX did it, but here's closer to PS2-era Ace Combat) :\

It definately looks a lot better. This is an arcade game/arcade simulator, so I understand the drive not to make it into a true flight sim. It looks at least up to par with FreeSpace in handling an aircraft, though it still could be a lot better.

The developer also said that the engine even allows space combat mod

The goal, is to make this game as a reference for arcade flight sims on the PC, but there is a will to be more than that, another goal is to make a full warfare engine capable of delivering mods such as space battles of epic scale or fast paced robot action with little to no effort required from the mod makers.

Oh, forgot to mention about this as well.

Yes, it’s possible to tweak or completely remove the cell-shading effect and also changing all other materials in the game.

In future, it may be added the option to define different shaders for custom campaigns/battle scenarios to avoid the need on changing the original file.

  • The sky is the limit.
If it's as moddable as they claim, it should be possible to make it more sim-ish, as long as the cockpits can be made more interactive (it looks like they're just eyecandy).

I have been wanting a highly moddable PC Ace Combat knock-off since forever. Pretty stoked for this. It doesn't have to be great, it just has to be fun. :p
