Ok... that's weird. Can't say I was a particular fan, but didn't dislike her stuff either, just a bit of left-field news, wasn't expecting that one at all...

Pretty much.  It sucks when someone with an incredible talent winds up self-destructing like that.  Apparently her voice over the past couple of years was nowhere close to her prime.

No one said she was relevant now, but her music is kind of inescapable in general.

not really.  i might have heard a song or two of hers in passing, but i wouldn't recognize any of them.  i hate pop music and avoid it at all costs.

I'll preface this by pointing out I'm not invested in the issue.

She was a very talented vocalist in her prime, fact of the matter is there are precious few people with her level of ability.  Even if I'm not a particular fan of a genre I still appreciate skill when I see or hear it and she had it in spades.  It's apparent from her history she couldn't handle fame and fortune and squandered her life on drugs and a marriage to a twit.  Not many people are naturally gifted with such ability or the opportunities she had.

He had a skin-disease! It wasn't because of is lack of self-confidence off stage! Liar! Liar! :( :(
