Borderlands 2 Up For Pre-Order On Steam

I know there's a few HLP-ers who play the original.  Is anyone else up for more shooting and looting?

Oh, and according to Steam if you own the original you get 10% off Borderlands 2 this weekend, plus the usual pre-order goodies.

Oh, I'm sure someone out there would be interested.  I don't have the original Borderlands myself, though I have heard it's a lot of fun.

Single player is okay, but it really gets fun when you and a friend or three get together to kill your way through an entire planet's worth of monsters, bandits, and evil mercenary thugs.

The pacing is also different depending on how many players you are playing with.  By yourself, the pacing is somewhat slow - which some older gamers might actually prefer.  With four players, the game pace becomes quite fast indeed.

Also, most of the DLC for the original game was actually quite good and worth the price of admission.

I'll be around today, a little bit of tomorrow, and this weekend, but I'm not sure I'll be able to play much since I've had Borderlands crash on me a lot with VC C++ issues.

EDIT: Quick Google search revealed my problem.  Should be an easy fix.  I'll have to start over with new characters, though.  Oh well. :P

How many folks here will get this game?

I don't have the original Borderlands so I don't really know much of this game, but apparently people are psyched about it. I've already bought GW2 and will buy XCOM Enemy Unknown, so I don't know if I should get this one too or skip it.

Already pre-ordered. Borderlands, for whatever nebulous reason, is one of my favorite games of the past few years. Probably because I have a soft spot for any kind of media willing to take the piss out of itself.

Story? Flimsy.
Characters? Ridiculous.
Dialogue? Comedy.
Guns? My god, it's full of stars guns.

Since we're a little over a week from release, I figured I would revive this thread a little.  Who has pre-ordered or plans to buy this game, and what is your Steam name?  I think BL2 is one of those releases that uses Steam for DRM, so you're stuck with Steam if you buy this game.

Heh, I Dolted around a bit for Space Marine, but I probably won't be Dolting for BL2 since there's already a lot of people here on HLP who will be playing BL2.

You're going to have to go to your store, pick your game up, and then come back home and install it when you could have just pre-loaded it on Steam. :p

but you aren't forced to use a third party to play your game, so it's still a net positive.


unless this is one of those bastards that requires steam even on the hard copy.  and probably doesn't tell you on the box.
