Land Speeders, Warbuggies/Wartrakks, and Vypers would do that job better and cheaper than full transport vehicles. I'm also not particularly referring to DoW1 defenses, but CoH defenses since Relic used so much of that game for DoW2 but left out obs posts/LP's, territory control, bases so Annihilate is a viable game mode, and supporting fire weapons like IG mortars and Space Marine Whirlwinds. The most CoH-like faction of them all, the Imperial Guard, notorious throughout 40k lore for holding the line and chucking tons of high explosive ordnance, have issues holding the line thanks to defensive cover enemies can walk through, have situational and inconstant artillery like the Manticore (should have been a Griffon or Colossus that can actually sustain fire and doesn't need to have its payload nerfed into oblivion to fit DoW2 scale), and have a Leman Russ tank that is generally not as effective as you would expect a full-size heavy tank to be compared to a medium tank like the Predator.
