basically while studying fire in microgravity the scientists on the ISS have made observations that could help with cleaner combustion for things like internal combustion engines

After looking at the image I think this is just a cover for NASA breeding Pac Man Ghosts.

Have you ever seen fire in zero gravity? It's beautiful. It's like liquid it... slides all over everything. Comes up in waves.

So Event Horizon is nothing but lies? Damn.
If you hit it and it bleeds, you can kill it. If you hit it and it doesn't bleed...You are obviously not hitting hard enough.

Greatest Pirate in all the Beach System.

Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

I'll bet if you spilled ethanol over a burner, you'd get waves/membranes of "fire". I imagine it would actually look really cool.

The photo of that sphere of fire is pretty. It almost looks like a shield bubble too.

Spherical diffusion flames are awesome.
In my world of sleepers, everything will be erased.
I'll be your religion, your only endless ideal.
Slowly we crawl in the dark.
Swallowed by the seductive night.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why we invest in fundamental scientific research :)

I am glad to see that we are looking to find more efficient ways to burn things cleaner.  At the same time, I am let down about how we still aren't looking at alternatives to ICE's, or at least alternative fuels.  Last night I watched a show where these guys lived in an area of constant rolling power outages, and they simply built a gasifier  that burned wood and created Hydrogen which then ran a generator and powered the guy's house.  They built it out of crap lying around in the yard, and what they could get at a junkyard.  Is that feasible for powering a car, I would think not, but I do think that Hydrogen is the answer.

Either way, very cool find FSF.
You can't take the sky from me.  Can't take that from me.

Casualties of War

Free hydrogen isn't common, so you have to extract it from some other unrefined source... like hydrocarbons.

[21:51] <@Droid803> OH WELLL.

See what you're missing in #WoD and #Fsquest?

[07:57:32] <Caiaphas> inspired by HerraTohtori i built a supermaneuverable plane in ksp
[07:57:43] <Caiaphas> i just killed my pilots with a high-g maneuver
[07:58:19] <Caiaphas> apparently people can't take 20 gees for 5 continuous seconds
[08:00:11] <Caiaphas> the plane however performed admirably, and only crashed because it no longer had any guidance systems

Hey, combustion is combustion - this will improve biofuel burning just as well as fossil fuel. Should help for those industries where there are no viable alternatives yet (thinking of aviation in particular).

Oh, and wood gas for powering a car? Definitely possible, it was fairly common during WWII (due to fuel rations). Not a looker though:

lol cheers fsf

the utter destruction of forests from shelling to strip away cover didnt help either, though iirc the first world war was worse for that.

is there some other, more interesting videos on this with less narration and more space fire?

meh, wood gassifiers are mostly reserved as redneck tech these days. why buy gas when you can just chop down trees and burn those instead (and here they grow like weeds).
