I feel sorry for the people who may lose their jobs but from what I heard this wasn't a C&C game I was looking forward too.  I was hoping for a single player campaign (RA2, C&C3, Generals) type of thing.  Maybe we can get a real Generals 2 someday.

My name is Joseph Hewitt. About 2-3 years ago I was Creative Director at Jet Set Games which was founded by Brett Sperry, Rade Stojsavljevic, and Adam Isgreen. You'll find these names in the credits of Westwood RTS games from Dune II till about Red Alert II, you know, when they series was good. I was an artist/designer from Dune II thru Red Alert II. Brett was co-founder and President of Westwood Studios (formly Westwood Assoc.) and he created the whole RTS genera. Rade was the producer on a number of them and Adam was lead designer of Red Alert & Tiberian Sun. Although Red Alert II was done at the Westwood Pacific office, it was balanced and such by Brett and Adam, you can tell the difference by comparing Red Alert II to Generals. Anyway, we were doing some stuff for EA and we approached them to do a C&C game, saying they could market it as the the return of the original C&C team. They turned us down in favor of doing Tiberium Alliances.

I don't know if this is legitimate, but if it is... goddamn.

Most of the game are fine actually, except C&C 4. On the other hand, EA has been ran by business minded people instead of gamers.

That's like saying that because the chocolate chip cookie had one less chip than you wanted it wasn't one. (And the forgotten were goofy as heck; dumping them was not a terrible idea.)

Only having played 95 and RA1 after they were released in the first decade pack, i found them tedious.  i like generals quite a bit, especially with zero hour.  i deleted my 'trial' version of 4 after the second mission. SOOOOOOOOO bad.

I enjoyed Generals, actually, but I don't know if I'd consider it part of the C&C franchise. I think the name just got tacked on to generate interest - which, to be fair, since it was a good game in its own right, wasn't such a terrible thing.

It was sorely lacking in Kane, though.

People will less complain about Generals if it don't have C&C name on it. It is still a good game by all account, it is just because of vastly different story and it feels more like Starcraft than C&C.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say that it has been a pleasure working on this game and I hope you all have enjoyed the closed alpha!   

This isn't official or anything, but you probably saw that our whole team got the ax.  I hope you understand that we at VG all were dedicated to making a game for all of you to play, and that the press release line was total b.s. It was NOT any feedback from the alpha that shut this project down but just petty corporate politics and shenanigans.

We were all shocked and confused to find out that our studio is closed (and that we are all out of jobs!), but I am happy to see that the game is still up and running RIGHT NOW and that a lot of people are still having fun with it. Please enjoy the live game until they figure out how to turn off the servers (it might be a while)!

I was never going to touch the game, but damn... 
Just knowing that all the effort you put into something for years is now void is heartbreaking.
