HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
Inspired by the inception and update of a new and old HLPXCOM, I'm going to be trying my hand at something slighty different: livestreaming.

Follow along in real time, watching every beautiful shot and colorful language.  Gaze as I save scum only a little bit and send hordes of rookies to their deaths.

Personalities of characters will obviously be lacking just a little bit, but you get colorful commentary on top of it all!

Stream link will be provided later.  Currently aiming to stream in roughly six hours.

Totally stealing my stream idea :P (because that's how I'm getting videos of my gameplay)
I welcome it regardless! I look forward to hearing every curse and frustration

That was rather amusing to watch
I'm surprised casualties weren't higher when you had eight sectoids on screen at once

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
I activated all 11 on the first turn, so I'm pretty surprised I only lost two rookies, too.  I can normally make it clear to lasers without losing someone, but that was just some brutal map shenanigans.  Also I hate that map because the cover is utter **** (and I even said so before I moved!).

Heh, well sometimes things just don't work out in our favour

Also, heard you were having some problems getting things working properly with the stream?

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
Yeah.  OBS kept crashing when I hit the 'start stream' button while on Game View mode.  I had to run it in windowed to get the whole screen in view and also not crash.  It was frustrating.

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
What did you do leading up to the events of the crash? (I'm also presuming you've used OBS successfully before, but it seems odd it'd do that)
(Also, was Aero on or off?)

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
Aero was off, and the events leading up to the crash were "click start stream".

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
Game capture works best with Aero on while monitor/window capture works best with it off
Now I don't know if Aero off with a fullscreen/borderless-window game capture would cause it to crash, but if that's all there was to it that's really all I can say would be wrong

I've been using OBS for twitch with XCOM for ages... never crashed... hmm

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
I can't get XCOM to stream without crashing instantly on game capture.  Monitor capture works kinda.  Anyone familiar with OBS: what's the problem here?  Log attached.

ANYWAY!  Streaming momentarily.  Because I can.  'Bout 15 minutes or so, I figure.

In which HLPX-COM continues to murder aliens.

Re: HLPXCOM: Live and Uncut
Shame I was out and about shooting guns today otherwise I'd of popped by

As for the OBS bit, nvwgf2um.dll is related to nvidia drivers so my recommendations (technically a compilation of ideas ranging from the dev team to simple basics) are the following (and like regular tech support, I don't mean to make you feel stupid, I'm just running through the numbers):
1) Try running OBS as admin
2) Ensure Nvidia drivers are all up to date
3) If drivers are all up to date, reinstall
4) If problem persists, remove Shadowplay as the capture feature might be butting heads with OBS's capture

Related to OBS settings:
1) Use x264 for encoding
2) Make sure it's detecting and using the correct video adapter (which is to say your graphics card)

In regards to monitor capture:
1) Don't use monitor capture. Use "Window capture" and set the parameters to fit only where the game displays
2) Make sure your upload bitrate matches up with the quality you're trying to stream. Monitor captures tend to require a higher than normal bitrate for the same quality so you'll have to compensate. Easiest way to fix this is downscale your resolution with the "downscale resolution" option in the video settings tab.
3) Use CBR, not VBR

If you're curious as to the settings I use, let me know
