How do you get muzzleflashes to work??

I was playing around with these recently and, after quite a bit of frustration, did get them to work (I took some frames from Descent 2), but I cannot remember exactly what I did in the tables and my computer is currently down, but I will post here again in a few days with more information once I can see the tables again.

This is how I think it works

Name your muzzle flash something, and add it to the muzzle flash table. Then program your weapon to use it.

Extract it using .vp view:p
That's how you get all of the tables.

For me its not in tables.vp... Its in root.vp! :D

yes, but in .vp view it lebels it "missions and TABLE data". Then in parenthesis it says root.vp

the tbl data is in the subfolder of root.vp. it isn't a separate vp.

it does say tables, look in .vp viewer, it says FS2_FullMission and Table data(root_fs2.vp)Unless we've been talking about fs1, and I don't know about it, then you have a problem, fs1 doesn't support muzzleflashes.

Okay new problem my MFlash works but when I move it doesnt. So it ends up firing behind me. :confused: :wtf:

can't find that anywhere. where are you looking? for me it is only a subfolder in a vp. (and this is fs2 :) )
as for the m flash probs, errr, don't really know. isn't m flash only for cap ship flak weapons?

How did you get the mflash to work? Everytime I tried to add a muzzleflash to a weapon other than flak the mflash wouldn't show up.
