To consider the Earth as the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field of millet, only one grain will grow. - Metrodorus of Chios
I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

There must be a way to know if. A modelling program without any options to tell you the polycount is like the Easter Bunny without a basket with eggs in it.

That'd be the Easter bunny after easter, then?  :p

Um, I believe blender does have a face-count display somewhere, but it's quite well hidden.  IIRC it doesn't actually give a triangulate or give a triangulated count, albeit I last used blender several years ago.

Faces: 2797

Sounds a bit high for what you have there; I'd suggest it's the cylindrical parts, you should look at cutting down them a wee bit (focus on the inside parts; those are likely to be less visible and thus require less detail).

Faces.... might be higher than that in actuality, as FS2 triangulates everything on display (NB: traingulation reduces the model to be completly comprised of triangles; this is because triangles cannot bend and are thus perfectly flat, which cannot be guarenteed of shapes with more points/edges)

well... Aggies tend to be farm/mechanic type people that like football* and welding. Generally. HLPers tend to be hacker/nerd type people that like screwing with computers and the internet. Generally. There are, of course, exceptions on both sides. I just never thought I'd see these two groups, er... overlap.

*that's rugby for you Brits, not soccer:p

well, actually, there aren't a whole lot of inside parts in an X-Wing.
