I'm back. It went well. Father-in-law not dead or even dying. The doctors who screwed up by not taking proper aftercare steps in the first place misdiagnosed the current problem. End result: father-in-law got huge transfusions, and two weeks in the hospital.

Happier note: we saw the house. We bought the house. 5min walk from the beach and a primary school, back yard faces a public park, with another park at the end of the street. 10min bike ride to Adelaide's Football Park (NOT AAMI Stadium), a very nice mall, continental shops, etc. 2min walk to the nearest bus station, fifteen minute bike ride to nearest train station.

We take posession in October. We should be moved in by January.

That's good news about your Father-in-Law, and your choice to move to one of the best places in the world (Sydney of course being the best :D), but...

Yeah. While the australians might not speak proper english they're much closer to it than the Yanks ever were. :p

You're going to have to get used to that :)

Glad to hear about your father in law. :)

Actually, in Adelaide, they call it a "Mall", I am so informed by my australian wife.

As for Sydney being the best? I think not. All it has going for it is Steak. I'll stick with less densely populated and overly expensive cities, like Adelaide. ;)

I'm not much for sport, but if I have to chose Port or the Crows, its the Crows everytime.

Its funny, whenever I walk down the street wearing my Crows hat (I've had it for more than I decade I think. One of her first gifts to me) I get odd looks. No one in this country can figure out what sport the Crows belong too.

No we don't. :p

Or at least... I don't :nervous: Maybe my family is just crazy. That would explain a lot of things...

Good news about your father-in-law and the move, anyway.

Well, the word "MALL" in big red letters on the side of the building might have given me the wrong idea, understandably. I've just asked my wife, and she verified, indeed, its called a "mall".

Now, Arndale and Marion, those are shopping centres. ;)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill
