WB doesn't get a clue!
http://www.tvsquad.com/2006/04/28/ruh-roh-raggy-scooby-doo-returns-to-saturday-morning-tv/

Quote
There are some cartoon characters that have a permanent shield of double-thick steel around them. When you think they're finally gone, they come back in a new form.

Take our pal Scooby-Doo, for example. Scooby and his Mystery Inc. friends have been with us since 1969. That's 37 years, kids; 259 in dog years (you knew I had to throw in that joke, didn't ya?). Since then he's been paired with Fred, Daphne, and Velma, the Scooby-Doobies (From Laff-a-Lympics), Dynomutt, Vincent Price and, ahem, Scrappy-Doo. After leaving Saturday mornings in the late '80s, he returned with the entire Mystery Inc in What's New Scooby-Doo for the Kids WB.

Now he's back again in this fall's 'Kids WB on the CW' (catchy, ain't it?) in Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue. In this show... well, perhaps you should jump to find out what it's all about, and also see some of the other new series premiering next fall on Kids WB.

In the new cartoon, Shaggy and Scooby live in the 'bling'd-out mansion' (The WB's words, not mine) of Shaggy's Uncle Albert. They still have the Mystery Machine, but it can now transform into one of a number of transportation modes. Scooby Snacks are still available, but they are now infused with nano-technology that allows Scooby to fly or turn into a giant robot. Their mission is to keep the Scooby Snacks away from those who would use them for evil.

Well, at least Scrappy-Doo isn't on the show.

What's happening to this "bling'd-out" generation of TV shows?

I wept. Mysterious forces beyond my ken had reached into my beautiful mission and energized its pilots with inhuman bomb-firing abilities. I could only imagine the GTVA warriors giving a mighty KIAAIIIIIII shout as they worked their triggers, their biceps bulging with sinew after years of Ivan Drago-esque steroid therapy and weight training. - General Battuta

Nope.
Kids these days, got no idea.
Too much political correctness being shoved in their faces. Only makes things worse IMO. >..>

Too true.

All those cartoons... really they just spit "arrogance" at me. Something I think kids have enough of without seeing it as a role model or any kind of acceptable behaviour. =/

No kidding. I can still vaguely remember the old GI Joe cartoons from when I was a kid. Those were the days........
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Re: WB doesn't get a clue!
As far as animations goes, I usually only watch anime. But sometimes I do get the chance to see what todays kids cartoons look like. Some time ago I saw this Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, I was dismayed. Today the series is much more violent and the animation style is also darker, more violent. In one of the episodes, Shredder was beheaded in a duel with one of the ninja turtles. This new-age series is airing at midday, most kids who watch TV are most likely watching this violent re-incarnation of the old series. Funnily enough I still own one VHS tape which contains two episodes of old-time TMNT episodes, the kids always watch it when they come by and greatly enjoy it. Why it is like producers now produce teen-age stuff for young kids?

Because that's what the original TMNT was? It was a violent independent comic book.

Re: WB doesn't get a clue!
Fury, what are you talking about? They have been doing that for a loooong time now. Did you ever see the X-Men cartoon? Or how about Gargoyles? What about Batman (the one from 1992-ish, I think) which was insanely well done. Exosquad, which actually showed people dying? Or, hell, even GI Joe and Transformers. They all touched on racism, political issues (this goes double for X-Men), genocide, and dozens of other hot-button issues. ****, the greatest cartoon of all time (Looney Toons) was extremely racist and violent.

Its just that now everything either so PC that its a load of crap, that or its all XTREMEOMGWTFBBQ! just for the sake of being that way. Those cartoons I mentioned above *had* a reason to be dark, dramatic, mysterious, what have you. Not because it was cool, but because it actually fit the story.
