Freespace V.S. Star Wars Part Three
The Subspace Portal
Dr. Hargrove's task force has determined that the Subspace Portal in Gamma Draconis, was constructed by the ancients, an extinct civilization discovered shortly near the end of the great war. Artifacts excavated in the Altair system contained data that enabled the GTA and PVN to destroy the SD Lucifer. Many Terran and Vasudan systems once belonged to the Ancients' empire, which the Shivans obliterated eight thousand years ago. The portal has been renamed Knossos, after the Earth's Minoan civilization.
Rear Admiral Koth, one of the NTF's most formidable leaders has been destroyed. Bosch's Neo Terran Front is coming to an end. But while the GTVA fights what remains of the NTF, the GTVA's forces in the nebula still hunt for Shivans and test out weaponry that will help them win the many battles to come.
GTVA fighters in the nebula began launching from the Aquitaine for the first test of the TAG missle system.
Far away, a Mon Calamari cruiser flies through the nebula to escape the clutches of Vice Admiral Thrawn's Star Destroyer.
"Report on the damage to the rebel ship." said Thrawn. "The engines of the Maria are almost down. We should be able to board her in moments." "Excellent. Prepare a boarding party."
It has been a almost a month since the Galactic Empire first entered the Subspace Portal. Now the Rebel Alliance has discovered new infomation: The Galactic Empire have been communicating with the Shivans on plans to give the Galactic Empire access to the node to Gamma Draconis. An alliance has formed between the two and now will be unstoppable.
"You know what your mission is, pilot. We are glad you could serve aboard the Maria with us. Now, go and tell your people to close down your portal at once, or else you will never be able to defend yourselves against the Empire." said Voli Shon, captain of the Maria.
Kappa 1 responded. "I won't let you down, captain. Thank you for all your help."
The pilot of Kappa 3 ran into the room. "Sir, even with my damaged engines I may be able to head to the Node."
"Pilot, I will be going. As leader of our wing it is only right that I go. My ship is in better shape anyway" replied Kappa 1.
"We cannot afford to lose you. What if all our wing were to go?"
"Well... alright. We will all be going."
Another Turbo Laser struck just beneath the bridge of the Maria. The Bridge shook with the tremors caused by the impact.
The Captain shook his head. "We haven't much time. We have to jump out now before we get destroyed. Get to your fighters then."
Kappa wing rushed to their fighters as fast as possible. Panels along the hallways started to shoot off. Plasma started leaking into cabins. The ship was falling apart fast.
As crew and engineers started to evacuate the hangor, Kappa wing jumped in their fighters. Kappa 3's engines had only been partially repaired and may well de-stabilize later as it was repaired using the mechanics of a completly different kind compared to that of the GTVA.
The three pilots launched their fighters into the misty wilderness.
When the three fighters were atleast one clik away from the Maria, the Mon Calamari cruiser jumped to Hyperspace in the direction of the node to Byss.
"Okey, lets go!" yelled Kappa 1 through his com.
Suddenly twelve Dragon Class Shivan fighters came out of subspace only a few hundred meters from Kappa wing.
"Pilots, defend yourselves or we will never reach the Aquitaine."
Thrawn's Star Destroyer began to speed up. Before the three pilot knew it, the gaugantuin ship was right beneath them.
Thrawn cracked a smile. "Activate the Tractor Beam. I want to see these... resiliant little pilots up close."
The three fighters began to be pulled back down to the Star Destroyer.
"What do we do now?!" yelled Kappa 2.
All of a suddon a massive subspace disturbance interupted the Tractor Beams activity. A ship, miles and miles in size, shaped like a dagger came out of Subspace.
The Super Star Destroyer sped right over Thrawn's ship, ramming into Kappa 1. Kappa 1 was torn to pieces by the force and friction put on his ship.
"Kappa 1!!!" yelled Kappa 3.
The Super Star Destroyer openned fire on Kappa 2 and destroyed him with a single shot.
Kappa 3 was the only one left.
Tie's began to launch from the Executer Super Star Destroyer.
As they started firing, Kappa 3 put all power to engines and shields and activates his boosters in the direction of the waypoint to the Gamma Draconis jump node given to him by the captain of the Maria.
The Tie's suddenly pulled back to the Executer.
Just then, Kappa 3 started reading a massive engine overload. A small explosion erupted from the engines of his fighter.
Kappa suddenly saw something on his slowly malfunctioning sensors. "Finally!" he yelled.
Kappa 3 found himself in an engagement between Shivans and allied fighters. A Corvette was firing beams at Shivan fighters with more accuracy than he had seen before. He began to wonder how much things have changed since he disapeared.
As kappa 3 began to spin out of control he straight away activated his comm.
"Mayday! Mayday! This is Kappa 3 of the 107th Ravens, GTD Aquitaine! Command, do you copy?"
"Affirmative, Kappa 3! What's your status?" replied Terran Command.
"Command, get the fleet out of the nebula! Shut down the portal now! There's no time to lose!
"I am transmitting the coordinates of the Aquitaine's current position. Return to base emmediately. You are badly damaged."
"listen to me! There's no way we can stop them this time! Shut down the portal before it's too late! There's something out there, command! Please!"
Two Manicore fighters came up behind Kappa 3. Each of them started firing away. Kappa 3's comms were disabled and then in a few seconds he was vaporised.
"Kappa 3, do you copy? Please respond. I repeat, do you copy? All units, you will disregard Kappa 3's transmission. The communication record of this sortie has been classified level phi."
The remaining fighters cleared off the last of the Shivan fighters and protected the Warspite and the Lucidity.
Command ordered the remaining fighters to return to base.
Commander Vincey of the 134th Barracudas addressed Alpha and Iota wing.
"Though this excercise did not proceed as planned, the 134th met the challenge head-on and defended our warships admirably.
"Overall, this field deployment of the TAG missle exceeded our expectations. Research and Development is now working on improvements to the TAG-A prototype, including an aspect-seeking warhead and a more maneuverable projectile. These improvements should make the TAG a versatile weapon for our tactical wings.
