Let's suppose your idea has some merit. Don't get me wrong, there's none to be found, but let's take the hypothetical scenario where your idea is actually worth the time it takes someone to read it. Does this community really need to start another project that it will never finish? Look at the magnitude of FS2, and look at the projects of similar magnitude that people have tried to complete. If we get an official plot outline and concept art delivered to us tomorrow, we'd be lucky to get the campaign released by 2054 for my 70th birthday. FreeSpace is a good game series and all, but by that time, my decaying mind and body would probably render me incapable of eating solid food, let alone playing a 'new release' for an old space sim. Moreover, given the similar state the 'FS3' developers would be in by the end of the development......well.....I'm not sure I want to imagine what kind of FREDing would come from a paranoid, old man incapable of speaking without ranting incomprehensibly and drooling.
Anyway, this ground has been trod upon many, many times before. If Volition going to hand us a plot outline, they would have done it already. There's enough projects set in the post-FS2 period, you can just pick your unreleased campaign and use some form of association therapy to make your brain mentally override any instances of its actual title with 'FreeSpace 3'.
Regardless of how long you've been in the FS community, you're having a noob moment. It happens, but this is why there's a 'preview' button that you can click before posting a new thread, so you can stop yourself from making innane suggestions like this. Now, you stay there, while I go get a bludgeoning object to properly beat the lesson into your skull.
