Project: Seeking Modeler/Texturer
Hi, I'm looking for someone who can model and apply textures. It's for a public release mod pack I've been working on for the past year or two.

Requirements:
-Modeler
-Texturer

Seeking one person for these two jobs, I'll take care of everything else like PCX2 and other things. I will table them and do all that stuff to get it working in-game.

Full credit for the person who models and textures them.

Project Overview:
1 fighter
1 heavy fighter
1 heavy bomber
1 cruiser or corvette
1 capital ship

These craft will be enemies and have their own species. I have the story in place and I'll work on the specifications with the person who's interested. For every public release over various games, I rarely desire to reveal its inspiration. But I just decided it will remain within the upcoming team until release of the first model.

Payments via PayPal for each model can be arranged and negotiated pending previous works and experience.

Details of multiple modelers should be discussed here. But I'm not keen on more than one modeler...

Please email me for further details. Post here, if interested, and I'll get back to you.

Current projection:
Reskin of every Terran vanilla model.
8 additional weapons.
5 additional models. <<< (Modeler/Texturer will only do this)
All for a new species, enemies.
Various UI.

A campaign is something I'm looking into, I've been toying with the idea since 2002. But for third-party intentions, I'll include BoE missions for various screen captures and video work. When this goes public, anyone can create a campaign if they wish.

The only additional information I can give is these craft are simple in design and appearance. Not as intricate as Open vanilla models. But how intricate is up to the modeler. I'm not looking for anything specific for complexity. I'll provide specifications on the craft and research material. Those people who are interested, email me and we'll discuss the modification openly further.

The mod will also provide resources for third-parties (screenshots/videos) pending completion of the 5 models.

Free time for this project is very open, time is not an issue, if you wish to contribute one model a year, let's do it. It's a paid position and I'm looking for one person to fill it, payment amount will remain private. If you wish to work on this without payment, I will work with you with just as much enthusiasm.

Thank you.
Aaron

good luck with the search!

Also, if you don't mind me suggesting something you might want to look for some modders somewhere else as well, maybe the blender forums or something like that.
I've seen plenty of spaceship models there, you might get lucky and tempt someone to do some mercenary work for ya. Hell you could even plant some interest on HLP for that guy and get us a new modder around here in the process :D

That's a good idea, I never thought of that... But I thought Freespace 2 models needed special bones and other little details before it's playable? Like, if I grab any modeler from a blender or 3dx max forum, he could be amazing but if he doesn't know how to model for FS2:O he could be useless to my project... Or is it simpler than I thought? ...Lol yes, maybe I could get someone to join the dark side!

Well AFAIK, the hardest part for an FS model creator is related to pcx, tabling, aside from that a regular modeler might have problems with subobject hierarchy, transparent glass and all that stuff.

pcx and tabling is covered by you, and if instructed correctly I guess pretty much every modeler will get the other two points right.

Don't take my word though, some other expert modeler will surely come around this thread and clear these possible conflicting points out.

The best modeler is yourself, even if you don't know how to model.  Take baby steps and learn, and you'll be surprised at what you can accomplish.  Trust me, if you want your campaign done right, you'll more often than not have to do everything yourself.  Plenty of examples of successes can be found at HLP - - Wings of Dawn, BP, etc.

Importing the model to the game is not that difficult. You can find some very good instructions on the wiki. And if in trouble, you can always ask here.

That's what I was thinking yesterday, if I hire a good modeler, I can give him the tutorials and discuss with him about the various requirements. I'm sure for a good modeler, once he sees these tutorials for FS2, it will just become a walk in the park and the collaboration continues.

Oh, believe me, I've been modeling for some time now, it's just not my thing. I need a team member and I was hoping to find one who can model in FS2:O.

I've imported models before but they were Karajorma's turret box thing. Thank you, I've already received some great suggestions. :) What I'll do is find a modeler from outside the FS2 community and bring him onto the project. I've been working on the outlines of this mod for the past 2 years and only just the past 6 months have I started the foundations of the mod itself. Like I said, time's no issue, if I modeler needs a year to finish his model because of time constraints, he can do so. I suspect, the modeling side of the mod may not begin until next year.

So, as a last resort, I may open my 3DS Max 8 and start chiseling at the rock. But I'm still holding hope to find one person who can work with me. I get 5 models, take pretty screenshots and videos, a modeler gets paid and everyone's happy. I stated this mod was for 3rd-party intentions, solely for screenshots and videos. I won't give away those third-parties so not to give away the mod. But my own personal intention for this mod is to feel happy, both for myself and my team member. And I will finish it.
