The weapon belongs to another ship than what is in the screenie though.

At least they used asteroids in Narn homeworld bombardment. The effect is quite close to what was seen during those scenes.

Its not quite clear how Centauri mass driver actually works. So we can be creative and also use the mass driver as a special long-range weapon in ship-to-ship battle like Narn energy mines.

Maybe you guys should visit TBP forums sometimes so that you can see the occasional screenshots and status updates. :D

What makes you think i don't?

Albeit I haven't actually downloaded anything. From any mod project.   Ever.

I thought it was stated somewhere that they used asteroids with a high metal content, thus accelerating them via EM-fields.

Mass drivers using artificial gravity technology AFAIK.  Which may or may not mean they had to be metal-rich.

You mean magnetic acceleration surely, if they could generate gravity then it presumably wouldn't need metal at all. :)

me?  Nope - IIRC the more advanced races in B5 uses an engine system that utilises the magnetic fields of planets, and thus allows artificial gravity fields to be used without rotating sections on the ships.

Not sure if this is powerful / controlled enough to accelerate a bog-standard rock asteroid into a planet, though.  It may be that you'd need some form of magnetic acceleration.  Plus i'm not sure how artigrav tech would work, i.e. maybe it requires metal in some form or the other. (aren;t all starships in B5 metal..?)

Not magnetic, they use either conventional engines or gravimetric engines. Or a hybrid. (with exception of FirstOne ships) I don't ever remember anyone mentioning anything about engine systems utilizing magnetic fields of planets. I would most likely remember something that odd. :)

Some races, like the Centauri and the Minbari, use drive systems built to varying degrees on magnetic and gravitational forces; some of them don't so much go to a planet as create a situation where they are drawn toward it. One of the side effects of this is a field allowing for artificial gravity. Earth doesn't have this level of technology, however.

So...depends on your interpretation, I guess.

Bah. XD I was just about to propose a similar mod to this. It was gonna phase out anti-fighter beams in favor of better laser turrets. XD But now you're done the work for me. :D BWAHAHA! Er, I mean, thank you. >>

I would have thought modding like that would have stopped a few good years back. :doubt:
Even a ten years old can edit some table values and make yet another Beams of Doom™.

Its nothing personal, I have just seen too many of those already.
