That's not going to do any good for most of these planets since they'll need an alpha channel for the glow to blend in right.

It wouldnt. The green transparency is what makes the originals look so crappy. Does the TGA even have the 0,255,0 transparency thing?

then again... the box only appears when the background in a mission are put in in a special way (planets after the nebulae) -- else it's fine.

I'm having a really hard time on this one... i'm still not entirely satisfied with it, but to prevent you from waiting longer... :)

-edit: the lower one to the left has been horizontally mirrored so you get to see the same part of it, not just the shadow.

I'm kinda stuck on this one, any help (suggestions, comments) would be appreciated to finally sort this one out :)

Two things I can try and point out with Planet E there.  First I must say that the color matching is near perfect.  What you do need to do is two things:

1) Needs to be more spherized as right now the original looks more like a sphere than the new one does.

2) More surface details like you've done to part of it and perhaps some more color variation or contrast or something.

I think whatever needs to be done will be a small but highly annoying trick.

I agree, it's great but I always thought that one was somewhat colonised... some more detail would be great :)

1) it's not spherizing -- but I can see what you mean. I'll have to change the lighting -- this is what makes the other one seem more like a sphere (i think -- look at that highlight on the [v] one)

2) I can try to get some colour variation although i'm not quite sure if that makes it look better, i'll see about the details though.

Thanks for the suggestions, i'll try to get something done by tomorrow :)

Yeah, V uses mostly planets from our solar system. This one is heavily modified though.

I suggest posting this thread as news as soon as all [V] planets are converted.

All of them are , only the planete doesn't take after its previous version. But it is excellent by the way.

I figured out how to do a better version of Planeta1: Planeta1 is actually Venus recolored blue. Try redoing Planeta1 with a blue Venus.

That planet does look a bit odd, but I think it's the atmosphere that's doing it.  Assuming it's supposed to be a Terran planet, (Star Trek's "Class M") then your atmosphere is way too thick.  What does it look like if it's a bit thinner?
