I concur on that Skybox
I however, disagree that this isn't a good place to discuss modding things either.

Afterall, what are we celebrating? Mods/Upgrades for FreeSpace essentially.

Sidenote: What is the ship attacking? It'd of been nice to see the ship getting destroyed...

Re: A celebration of Freespace
I liked the Japanese fighter, though I can't remember the name.

Nagiata or something...
Phoenix (the one with the "beam" gun) FTW ;)

Best fighter in that game - period! Beam gun, gattling guns with auto-tracking, another set of heavy guns and a good missile payload.

Re: A celebration of Freespace
But if I remember correctly the Naginata was available very early in the campaign. And who needs auto-tracking anyway :p.

Wuuut.

I recognise that skybox (because I use it too, that galaxy is awesome). So you combined the skybox with red nebula?

Or are these red nebula bitmaps or is that a modified skybox? :nervous:

Play Derelict. It's quite ancient.

Nice! Can't wait!
A small voice in my head tells me they are have followed us here in the Milky Way. They follow us until we are dead at their feet. We are nomands of the stars, no longer the race that was loved by the Great Elders. My name is Kyral and this is my story of survival.

There is no sanctuary for us, in this Universe. We will fight the Terror for one last time on this Shining World. May the Transcendent judge us kindly in the Life Stream.

I combined the galaxy with a red-nebula skybox Droid803 made in Spacescape. It's the new Verbek background.

Nice cruiser/corvette there... a new phaistos?

It's the next generation of Ancient corvette. Active front-line fleets get the best and newest material; the player's fleet (Sopul Fleet) is the first to deploy the Mochlos corvette in combat. That's how they got the lead ship of the Akrotiri class too.

And testing continues...

The Serio stealth fighter on recon duty.

This Cain really gets some!

Lucky shot getting the Nightmare missiles up close in this one.

Malia vs. asteroid.

Remember that the Malia is a sensor cruiser, the Ancient equivalent of AWACS: those glowy domes are the sensor arrays.

I don't think we've shown many pictures of the front of the revised Malia yet...

After an intense fight, our hero returns his battered fighter homeward.

No, that would stretch them beyond original size on any screen above mobile phone size. I shall not let my pictures get raped like that :P

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Quent didn't say monitor size, que said window size. It doesn't matter if you're running at 1080, or even up at 4k res if you're limiting yourself to a tiny window over on the side of the screen...

Re: A celebration of Freespace
1920x1200. The browser window is ~900 px wide on the right side of the screen. Of that, ~650 px are filled by the screenshot. I don't think this is at all unreasonable for a layout, because reading incredibly wide paragraphs of text is difficult.

I should have said "half the image is visible," because "twice the window size" doesn't mean quite the same thing.

Or we could just petition the administration to make lvlshot not upscale stuff.
