I posted about having a Freespace dream once before years ago. That one was based on a specific mission from Silent Threat Reborn, but this second one was completely original and just completely out of the blue. In both dreams I thought it was real, not some video game.
I was flying escort for a convoy. Two wings of three fighters. The convoy had 4 vessels, but the real objective was a VIP on one of the ships. We had to get it to a starbase. So then we get told that the base itself is under heavy attack and the other wing gets ordered in to reinforce the defence. So there's just three of us to defend the convoy and I can feel the sweat on the back of my neck, I'm deathly afraid of the Shivans hitting us with only three of us. And of course they do hit us. They go for us not the convoy. I don't remember specifics, it's just a whirlwind of me trying to stay alive and shoot Shivans, I remember my two wingmen did most of the killing and we all made it.
So we clear away the Shivans and the convoy becomes jump capable and we jump. The base is pretty big, built on top of a huge asteroid. The fighting's raging around it, there's a ton of debris around, though the defenders are only mildly outnumbered so I feel confident they will win. We have to take the convoy in with this firefight raging, and I'm just praying the Shivans don't come over, and they don't and we get in safely.
Throughout the dream I had a sense of weariness, as if I'd been fighting the Shivans mostly non-stop. Space was so beautiful, and I got to spend some time on the base before the dream ended, including the feeling of being on it while the fight continues outside, and the cocktail of emotions of being relieved to not be out there and feeling guilty about not being out there, I wasn't worried about the base getting destroyed with me on it. They mopped up the Shivans pretty easily in the end, we weren't needed. I talked to people, but don't remember details. I woke up feeling stressed, the emotions were very visceral in this dream.
Anyone else have any Freespace dreams?
