It could be argued that the sound represents the mode of fire that the pulse cannons are in.  They are energy weapons after all so it only stands to reason that they can be modified on the fly to several different fire modes.

It's not like this is a text file ... movie files, on the whole, don't compress well. I mean...maybe raw DV stuff, but precompressed DivX (ps, XviD is better) is about as RARable as an MP3.

use Media Player Classic (it's at SourceForge) ... best player ever.
also, Defilerpak is the best codecpack I've seen. Very, very minimalist - doesn't install crap you don't need, but it's never failed me. Plus you can customize the install if you feel like it
