Yeah ati i think was actually trashing smartshaders, sort of like they trashed smoothvision. Most smartshaders are useless anyway. Mostly it was just enthusiasts who said hey look i can make my game appear in only ascii, or make my game look like an old television broadcast, mostly people making interesting smartshaders out of creativity that no one would ever use because they didn't improve game experience at all. The only smartshaders i could ever account to as being useful and cool and improve game experience and looks is hdrish and hdrish-lite. After that what else are you going to make with a smartshader? A blurred motion smartshader would be cool, like if a ship zips by you really fast and it's blurred. I'm not sure if anyone ever made such a smartshader, and i don't think so. But motion blur was present in 3dfx's last line of voodoo cards which was like the voodoo4's and 5's which was a setting you could turn on for motion blur in any game (back then quake3...even fs2), but i'm inconclusive in whether that was an often used feature in anyone owning a voodoo 5 or something, and especially if anyone here at the hlp owned anything greater than a voodoo 3 (the card i first played fs2 on, and had slow downs with the retail shockwaves) from the 3dfx line. Voodoo 4's and 5's weren't slow cards either, they were quite fast in their day even in the area of 32bit gaming which back then was frought with slow downs and most people using 16bit for performance reasons.
