I noticed lately a few people are taking up "re-inventing" some of the less popular retail ships, such as the hippocrates and the Aten.

I thought this would be a good thread (maybe) for listing ships yet to recieve hi-poly super updates. like the Shivan Gas miner, or the Zod Edjo / Ankh turrets.

So if anyone has a list of what could use a bit of spit and polish please post below

So, how about we turn this thread into something more useful to modders:

Make a 'HTL Wish List' of the ships you would most like to see given upgrades!

Anyone who has an opinion on the matter, post a list of 5 or so ships that you want to see upgraded next in order of priority, so modders interested in making one can come along and see which ones have the most demand.

If the idea seems to catch on here, I'll edit the topic a bit and sticky it.

5 Ships? In no particular order:

Argo - Really common, and I don't think that hard to do, but it's somewhat odd shape has probably scred a lot of modders off.
Cain/Lillith - Common, and you get two ships for the price of one (though some minor variation between the two would be nice).
Rakshasa - Awesome shape, plenty of scope for texture following greebling, yet the Rak gets no love. Perplexing.
Hatshepsut - First mission. First capship anyone sees in the game, and awesome shape as well. Needs HTLing like I need rum.
Tauret - Just pipped the Thoth or the Sekhmet. Commonly seen fighter, I can imagine quite difficult to do more than smooth and a few overhang scaley bits, but so worth it.

So that's my five. Other nice ones would be the Boa and artemis, so we'd have the full Terran fighter/bomber set, the Mentu because it's the only vasudan cruiser anyone realistically uses, and any of the Shivan fighters and bombers, because they're really common enemies and, for any of the ones made for FS2 except the Mara - dog ugly as it stands. But yeah, top five are as above.

The Shivan flotilla is really under-loved as a whole, at least once you get outside of the capital ships. I'd just about kill to see a good Dragon. I agree with the Hatshepsut, too. Maybe throw in a Thoth, since I'm a fan of those, and an Isis, since that could look really impressive. Finish off with a Nephilim, since I'm really curious as to what someone would be able to accomplish with that.

Thoth: A non HTL Ship on the front screen of the SCP?

Argo: Really common.
Basilisk: Really common. And I think it would also look extremely awesome as well
Rakshasa: Really, really awesome design.
Cain/Lilith: Another really awesome design, and also extremely common.

The Myrm is HTL'ed, even if it is barely noticeable. I think that maybe fixing the horrible smoothing might help a bit...

It's just not completely done yet!

There's also a WIP Manticore IIRC that was done save skinning, as there also is a Dragon in the same state.
There's also a WIP Cain/Lilith, though I don't know what became of it.
There's also a WIP Rakshasa, but that consists of only a few vent thingys IIRC.

What someone really needs to do is finish off UVing, skinning, and converting some of the "completed" models there are...namely the Charybdis, Colossus, Manticore, Dragon, and Demon...amongst others.

This isn't about finishing stuff - it's to get an idea for which ships people think need upgrading most. Regardless of whether or not they've been started.

Edit: Also, blanket statements like 'any shivan fighters' don't count. We want specifics!

I think the Hattie is definintely in need of some attention. With normal maps, it already looks great, but some HTL-ing could make it truly amazing.
