Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
The Sanctuary has a very nice nameplate right there. I've never seen it until now.

Oh I see what happened there.  Anemoi lost all smoothing data, which in FSO means the entire mesh is manifold (ie all vertexes and edges are connected to one another, making all the faces share edges without breaks.  There are no duplicate vertexes and collinear edges).  Basically we're gonna have to import the model into a program and separate the faces into smoothing groups so it looks right.

shouldnt it be the other way around? all the edges share the faces without breaks. its basically your typical phong shading behavior.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
The Anemoi attempted to go on a diet in order to fit through a confined space. Eventually it was decided that this was a very silly idea.

Somewhere along the line it lost its smoothing.

EDIT: Never mind, apparently this is apocryphal - that happened to a different model! This Anemoi is the same one that TrashMan released a while back, so its smoothing has always sucked.

Yeah, TrueSpace is frequently not sure if it wants to do smoothing or not.  I think Steve-O's ships suffer from the same issue.

That'd be much appreciated. Let us know how it goes. :)

By the way, we're planning to release an update to BP: AoA next Sunday. Or the next after it if Battuta can't get some tech descriptions re-written in time. So it'd be awesome if we could have fixed model by then. :D If not, we'll just release fixed model in another update afterwards. :p

Test of the new superdestroyer for Shadow Genesis :D, turrets will be add later, when the LODs turrets will be are finished. Base model is from one of Aldo's dumps.
I know, nameplate sucks. I'm going to make a better one.

At an immediate glance it looks more like an Odin to me.

The skybox has an X3-esque look to it, very nice.

base model is my Odin it looks like, I guess Aldo must have tinkered with it at some point.

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
It really looks like INFR1's Odin with some changes...

Base model is from one of Aldo's dumps.

It's not so much a dump as it is an unused ship. Now that I'm taking another look at it, I'm reminded of Half-Life.

By the way, did I ever mention that I add good screenshots on this thread into my collection of wallpapers on my Mac? ;)

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
I'm not sure, but I think it's from modeldump 3. Filename is carrier.scn. Maybe the Anchorage is similar to Odin, but in my opinion it's better :)

Re: A celebration of FreeSpace
Might consider changing the name, it's hardly as impressive as the model.
