Re: A celebration of Freespace
I like the one that looks like the USG Ishimura
I was trying to make this ship as similar to Ishimura as possible. This is GTRf Denoran - mobile rafinery of the mysterious Abyssum mineral. This strange rock is able to give terrans a lot of pure energy, this is almost never-ending source of energy. It's very rare, Ultima Cena will tell you the history about war of the Acrimonia system - rich in Abyssum. GTA are not the only space force who want to use Abyssum :). But they're just plans. UC is frozen for now.

Dem shockwaves, some of the sexiest things I have ever seen.
<Nuclear>   truth: the good samaritan actually checked for proof of citizenship and health insurance
<Axem>   did anyone catch jesus' birth certificate?
<Nuclear>   and jesus didnt actually give the 5000 their fish...he gave it to the romans and let it trickle down
<Axem>and he was totally pro tax breaks
<Axem>he threw out all those tax collectors at the temple
<Nuclear>   he drove a V8 camel too
<Nuclear>   with a sword rack for his fully-automatic daggers

Esarai: hey gaiz, what's a good improvised, final attack for a ship fighting to buy others time to escape to use?
RangerKarl|AtWork: stick your penis in the warp core
DarthGeek: no don't do that
amki: don't EVER do that

It would be nice if the 2D shockwaves looked a little more spherical in their presentation.

Isn't that what 3D shockwaves are for?

They're not spheres. They're still planes, they're just not always perpendicular to the player's point of view.
[16:57] <CommanderDJ> What prompted the decision to split WiH into acts?
[16:58] <battuta> it was long, we wanted to release something
[16:58] <battuta> it felt good to have a target to hit

WRONG! if memory serves, the 3D shockwaves are a squashed sphere basically.

The ones in the mediavps are disk-shaped.

If the Death Star exploded with a plane for a shockwave, I'm more than happy to accept the ones currently present

Albeit, it'd be really cool

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Meh.

Both 2D and 3D shockwaves in mediavps aren't really shockwaves at all. Framebuffer shockwaves are the closest thing we have yet that resemble a decent shockwave. If there was a way to add some more custom detail into the framebuffer shockwave via a shader or something, that'd be awesome and could completely replace the crappy 2D and 3D shockwaves we have used so far.

That shockwave was added in the remastered version iirc ^^

Re: A celebration of Freespace
Yes, shockwave was added in the DVD version. The original didn't had it, it was just a big explosion.
