well yeah, seeing the enemy waves in prophecy are much lighter than in secret ops, and that the two murphy + cerberus were holding together pretty well.

A Keel mount is a major part of shipbuilding. It's kinda like the frame of your house or apartment. If there is no keel mount, the structural integrity of the ship is very weak (just like if a house was not built on a frame but rather on glue and sticks), and a few hits can take it out.

So the main point . . . no keel mounts  . . . much less hits to destroy.

generally your argument is flawless and in the reality laser weapons are not possible. But in a science fiction game... ;)

...and they might be... errmm... multidimensional... errm... lasers...

Yeah that's it! Part of the beam is... errm... phased to effect shields and only a small portion is in the visible spectrum! Yes! :)

Wait! Stargate got that bad?!?:D

In WCP, they were rather hard to defend because they weren't escorted by a battlegroup. Normally, the carrier would be guarded by destroyers, cruisers, frigates and so on, but the Midway was just on her maiden voyage when the Nephilim invasion started - no one expected something to happen, it was peace time after all.

Keel mount just means that something is mounted on the keel. Like the Confederation dreadnought has the Phase Transit cannon on the keel(btw I don't think it's going to be a beam weapon; in WC2 it fires a bolt, no doubt), others have turrets or missile launchers there.:)

These carriers are very expensive. They are one of the most expensive vessels in the ConFleet inventory to support and maintain.  400+ spacecraft operating  out of each Vesuvius-class carrier in peacetime an impossibility...

Same goes for the Midway, btw

But the Vesuvius owns. That's why I'm so pissed off with a certain cutscene in Secret Ops, which makes no sense :p

You mean the scene where an nearly unarmed Bugship blows up a Vesuvius-class carrier?

Ah that scene is so...wrong...where was the fighter escort of the Vesuvius? Where their escorting destroyers and cruisers?

Just thought cause of the big battles we have/can do...we should rename to Wing Commander Battlefleets ^_^

Don't know anything about a WC HW2 Mod; and the last thing I heard from the WC HW1 Mod was that it wasn't going to be further developed until they get a good idea for the tech-tree. Lately I couldn't even find their page anymore :( .

Well, yes, but then there were still loads of HW ships in it; so it couldn't be that balanced. Might have gotten better if development would have been continued...
