Enif Station: Were under attack! Send Fighters Command!
Command: Engage your subspace drives!
Enif Station: We have subspace drives?
Command: Yes it's been a secret addition to all terran installations since the great war.
(This is a bug that happend for me on me just then lol)

-
Um...ok?
-
I thought it weird when I saw the installation go into subspace... guess no one else did.
-
That's quite a nice bug. I don't think there's any good reason for it to go into subspace either. I don't think anything docks with the station and can accidentally drag it into subspace so it looks like a pretty unique bug.
-
Ugh. The Mannheim, prolly. This had better not be a docking bug.
-
I thought it funny because I had stopped playtesting some of my own campaign missions at the time and went to play a level of the original campaign for some bugfree goodness lol.
-
Definitely makes for a good sized hole in subspace :p
-
I always thought that arcadia's had subspace drives.
Otherwise how would they get them into other systems out in the middle of no where?
Certainly it'd be more difficult to build an arcadia in a new system, if the new system it's supposed to be in has the resources to do so.
Plus there's like some multiplayers missions that have arcadias warping in from somewhere.
Or perhaps, what i'm guessing, is that this specific arcadia wasn't supposed to warp out at all, given why people are calling this specific happening a bug.
-
They're inflatable.
-
Good point can you make an arcadia jump out? I'll have to check that out lol.
-
Is that mission causing problems again?
Good point can you make an arcadia jump out? I'll have to check that out lol.
Yep, just give it a departude cue and it will go whenever it's supposed to. If you've played Derelict you've seen a Ganymede arrive from subspace; departure is no different. Not sure if you can give it a depart order and have it leave though, as I think you need engines to do that.
-
YAY i was right :D
I remember a while ago there was somebody on the forums here who got killed once in multiplayer by an arcadia warping in.
I don't think anything has the afterburner power to get out of the way of such a disaster.
Speaking of arcadias, command should like convert one of them into a juggernaut or something(i think juggernauts are bigger).
It's the next biggest thing with the colossus gone, and so many arcadias.
Plus arcadias can deploy more than just fighters ;)
-
lol just a bad version of SCP if I go back to tohers then it works fine, and the whole version was pretty stuffed with everything so I think that build is just the only one.
and yeah it warps out at like 300KPH which did kill me the first timeI ran the mission lol
-
ROFL! A space station warping into or out of subspace! That's pretty weird. When I played that mission with Goober5000's March 23rd 2006 CVS standard build of FS2 Open, I didn't have such a bug.

what build did you run and what campaign is this?
I'd like to see this in person... so to speak...

Pah! I have something much funnier!
All you need is another ship that should be small and manouverable (Ulysses, Elysium).
That ship must be docked with the Arcadia... And then... Well...
You'll see ;)
-
I used these ones fs2_open_r_01172006.exe for that to happen in campaign.

It just takes longer :)
Back a few years ago I tried Styxx's original Apocalypse model which is a 20KM long warship and made a dock port...and then had a Argo attach to it and then warp into subspace. Took a good long while for the whole thing to be dragged into subspace. Hilarious :D
-
Any chance we could have a pic/mission file/ship files, IceFire? I'm quite eager to see that

You misunderstood me ;)
What I meant was:
The Arcadia gets moved by the other ship...
Not only when warping out...
This way the Arcadia can do amazing spins and, of course, it can fly very fast ;)
And if you can give the docked ship the order to attack something, all the turrets of the Arcadia are firing when in range...
Oh.. And of course the Arcadia is a great shield ;)
Also funny: You can create whole ship-"clusters" with docking!
Especially with the Argo! How many dockpoints does it have? Seven? ;)
Oh yeah... Here's a mission I made...
You see: I've already played with that ;)

New GTVA secret weapon!!! (pic)
That's something of an oxymoron.
-
Ugh. The Mannheim, prolly. This had better not be a docking bug.
Since it looks like he's using retail, it's likely that it's just an exploit: the old hotkey-jump command that allows the player to order the departure of any order-receiving ships in a particular hotkey. The Mannheim IIRC is order-receivable, and therefore might have been accidentally ordered to depart through hotkeys, and took Enif with it.
Or maybe not, it's been a while since retail.
-
Wow, this is sweet.
Do you know how unsuspecting this would be in multiplayer:D
Just 2 ships fighting each other around an arcadia, then all of a sudden, he's being chased and shot down by the worlds fastest arcadia.
VERY unsuspecting.
I'd be laughing my ass off if i was piloting the arcadia, or the guy being chased by it.
BTW, i'm not sure if there was any reference of the player being able to dock with it, given they're flying the proper ship of course.
-
Windows notepad has a reson to exist. You can go into *.FS2*s and change them around in notepad, doing things FRED would complain endlessly about.
-
Mars, what .fs2 editing are you referring to? Jump-outs? Or docking ability?
I would love to mess around with this...
-
Create a mission, put in a support-ship, have it be docked with the players fighter (or any fighter), then change the support ship's class in notepad to somthing big (Ganymede is always fun), make sure the dock-point names are correct.
-
The king of Ganywarping... An Arcadia?
Looks like DW-Suzanna has some new competition...
-
Iv seen a arcadia jump b4. Nothing new.
-
another rare bug? the other day I get killed two times by the Iceni on the rescue mission in the nebula... They just dispear from its position and apear in Azrael place! I still thiking about that, they just vanished and killme, lol! when I get killed I say "What??????", and see the Iceni over me... them i see "Shivan killed by a collition by the iceni" LOL! I no know what happend there, this happend in less than 1 second :P has been very agressive.
-
yeah like the arcadia jumping out, that was nothing new, but when your doing th eofficial campaign and SCP does weird stuff it's funny. :)

Force-warping a Ganymede ring during a SquadWar was still tons more fun...
-
Turns out it seems that ALL objects can warp. Ganywarping has already been mentioned, but it holds for Shivan Comm Nodes, Asteroids, THE KNOSSOS!!!
Rather than think of it as a bug, it's just something that the programmers didn't bother to program in--I mean, why GET RID of a feature that, if it's so unbelievable, campaign writers can just NOT USE?

It's supposed to be like that. That feature has been used in Derelict. Just to mention one example.
And the effect can have numerous clever usages. With a little ani altering you can cause arcadia to be sucked in toan artificial black hole.

That does sound cool. Talk about secret weapon.
Can it be done while leaving the Subspace effect intact for other uses in the mission (like, say, YOUR jumping out?)
-
Someone needs to make a ship that was designed for piercing through blockades and ramming other ships.

Nico did. Or I made one for Nico; I forget which.
Back in the days of OtT. Think it was Shivan.

Sorry to bump this topic, but I got an idea. Is it possible to make a mission where the player (in a GTF Pegasus at max engine power) has to survive having Arcadias warp out at him randomly for a preset period of time (with a score counter for every Arcadia that misses the player fighter craft)?
;7
Would definitely be a challenge, especially if the angles and numbers of Arcadias being thrown at the player became random.
Could it be done by asteroids, perhaps?
And then that brings up another question, can asteroids be made to warp in and out when they appear and disappear to create lots of warp effects?

Sounds like fun actually... Perhaps the Arcadia should be replaced with a Ganymede. Youd get to fly trought it while evading those pipes.

If you have an asteroid model and you place them manually.
