Tropical depression 1 was upgraded to Tropical Strom Alberto a few minutes ago. As of right now, it looks pitful in orginization, and this tropical storm is actually good news, the south really needs the rain.
-
south of what the US South africa south what?
-
Considering where WeatherOp lives and monitors, it's likely the American South.

But that would make you an "ivory tower liberal not living in the REAL America."
To which my response is, if you're the real America how the hell have you managed to keep from blowing yourselves up between the guns and farm chemicals?

Obviously you've never actually been there...
-
We don't have to, we see you here just fine.
-
I live in the south.
...and I'm from the north so I can't stop laughing...

*plants lightning rod, allthough to his dismay, no lightning bolt strikes
Uhm,
Back on subject, basicly Alberto is a spinning piece of mess in the GOM. Not fully tropical, more extra-tropical in nature. All it's gonna do is dump alot of rain, alot of rain that the areas that need it most won't see a drop.

Coming from you, I can think of no better advertizement to live in the South. :p

Should this be reason for concern or is a precaution?

Precaution mostly, the thing is, there is really not alot of difference between a 70mph tropical storm and a 75mph hurricane. They will do about the same damage, knock power out, blow trees down ect.
The real concern is the fact the the Gulf Loop Current(the thing that made Katrina and Rita what they were), has bit us again. This was a very poorly orginized tropical storm late last night, to the point where most people were wondering why it even was a depression, me included, but just a few hours over the current has really helped it alot.
Could it strengthen more, it's possible, but it will not strengthen a great deal, the sheer is really keeping that in check, but if that sheer wasn't there, lookout. We have really got to keep and eye on this current, because another Katrina or Camille is likely to be just a while away.
-
Well, it made landfall in the Florida panhandle as a 60mph tropical storm, could have been 65mph, but who cares.
In more troubling news, the ITCZ is lighting up like the 4th of July. I'm afraid we are following a very familiar path once again. :doubt:

For ****s sake Kaz, stop being a hypocrite. By mentioning how much the south sucks and how we should be destroyed or whatever the **** you say in a good amount of the posts you make, you yourself become the bigot by generalizing us all into one big bad group, you dont know all of us and just about everybody on this board is sick of your mouth, you pompous self-righteous jackass, even if only a few of us will stand up and say it
-
Kaz is somewhat right; the south is possibly the most Christian section of the US, but he's also wrong to overgeneralize; it would just as if I said New England or California was composed of nothing but self-righteous, condescending liberals. I used to live in North Carolina for a couple of years, and, besides the horrible grid system, I hardly noticed any difference between it and Indiana or Illinois.
-
no i dont disagree with that at all, its a very conservative place for the most part, but how he says it makes us all sound like bible thumping, card carrying KKK members and while there are those, they are a very small majority
-
Oh stop complaining. Muslims around the world have had to cope with the 'terrorist' stereotype for years, it could be worse.
-
It's not that the south is full of Bible wielding racists, it's just that those are the people that get all the attention. Which seems to be the problem everywhere. The people who make the most noise get the media coverage, then it's assumed everyone from that region is the same. Making a comment like Kazan's only shows sheer uneducation about an area, and him trying to make himself feel better for an unknown reason.
I got the "Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post." message as I was about to reply, but I don't want the time I used to think about this post and type it wasted, so assume it came before Mefustae's. :nervous:

Bible wielding racists
From one person God made all nations who live on earth, and he decided when and where every nation would be.
Obviously they don't read it too closely.
