I can't see the video but I thought this thread would be the Perfect location for this (http://www.people.virginia.edu/~jac3he/GiveUpQuiz/hitlercoulterquiz.html)
Thats a quiz, comparing Ann Coulters writing to Hitler, seperate the two.
I'll leave it to you guys to understand my point.
Some people are just insane.

What comment is there to make, anyways? Racism, bigotry, etc.... is just ****ing evil. Nuff said.

The Blues Brothers movie is great. :)

We have Nazis in the UK too, we had an active Nazi Party in the UK even during WW2, and we never rally declared a cessation of warfare against them. Not that you'd ever get away with it, but strictly speaking, the UK still has a shoot-on-sight policy dating back from WW2 with regard to Nazis.
-
I heard somewhere there was never a formal surennder signed between russia an germany either so in realty they are technically still at war.
Its just one of those urban legends but i've never thought about seeing/checking to see if theres any basis behind it.
any of you guys heard of that one before?
-
I though it Japan and USSR/Russia.. due some barren islands north of Japan (Kuril Islands)
-
I heard there was some tiny country in South America or Africa that was in war with Finland in WW2. And that techincally it still is...
-
Is it wrong that I found that guy yelling "JEWS!" rather funny? I don't know why, but I just cracked up when he started yelling it. Yep, that's the kind of guy with a small willy.
-
LOL You always find the worst problems are those that point their fingers at other people.
I know there were problems with the Japanese surrender to America simply because a number of Japanese soldiers had no idea of the concept 'surrender', which was a massive dis-honour, and carried on fighting regardless. Many were hunted down by their own army.
There's a few situations like that in the World, it's still a hangable offence to drive pigs across London Bridge, something I once got a lecture for for pointing out to a Police Officer ;)

Police in the UK have their sense of humour surgically removed on the first day.
-
Unghhh, Watch the thin blue line, Actually i'm kinda inclined to agree with you on that one.
-
The old Rowan Attkinson thing? Wow. Let's do the time warp. It's "Feel the Force" now! Although admittedly that stinks too.
-
I reckon we could use another army sitcom, like bladder goes forth, but Out in IRAQ or somewhere. With a Dwarf kinda feel.. (COPYRIGHT Me&Now :P)

Tell you what I'll make an effort to say something vaguely on-topic for a change. Strikes me that people in the US are becoming a bit more extreme in their nationalistic and, more to the point, xenophobic views. Although admittedly I base that on nothing but media coverage which you can never trust 100%. They just spin things whichever way sells papers or increases viewing figures. But, if it is true though then it's a worry. Could be that the US is going this way because of the extreme views of others but if the US responds in kind then it's going to turn into a feedback loop and everything is going to go to hell.

The problem is a social one, I think, in the UK, it's pretty easy to think of other cities as something more than simply 'Them', I'd still consider someone from Birmingham or Glasgow as one of 'Us', despite the fact I'm closer to France than Scotland, there's a big piece of water between us. In the States it's much harder, there are lakes the size of small countries between cities, or entire mountain ranges. Someone from Texas would find it hard to consider their lifestyle had anything to do with someone in New York, also, the way the Government works there, with Federal and State levels, is a brilliant idea for encouraging diversity, but can also help to cause insular communities, in my opinion.

Mosley's (fascist) National Front or somesuch, I think. Nowadays the BNP seem to be the politically 'acceptable' (acceptable to idiots and probably Daily Mail readers) face of racism.

I think, in general, the Scottish tendency is to think of England as 'them'. In fact, most Glasweigans probably think of Edinburgh as 'them' too, it's (insularity) probably a symptom of being a small quasi-nation with a national identity that's sort of under constant threat by politics. And it's probably not something that fully 'extends' in any case to a serious level; I'd think most people in Scotland felt the 7/7 bombings - for example - as keenly as people in England, Wales or Northern Ireland.
I'd agree with IP, though; US nationalism has seemed to take a very 'extreme' turn; I think when dissent is called 'Anti-Americanism', then it's a bad sign. I guess, the problem is that 9/11, combined with political changes, made a set of circumstances where the government manufactured the concept of being under constant attack ala the Cold War, and where the defense for the ordinary person became fairly vocal and blind exclamations of their patriotism.

Is it me or does the world seem more volatile than it did during the cold war? (And NO i was not around during the cold war :P)

funnyest thread ... EVER

Not really, it was more tense then than it is now, Nuclear Weapons weren't something you could really do anything about. The differences were social more than anything else, we were a much closer knit community then, and we were less well informed about our government, trusted them a lot more. But you knew that, if those sirens went off, it might be a malfunction or it might be the last 4 minutes of your life, there was no way of telling.
Admittedly, I'm not sure how much of a real risk there was, though London would always be a target, I don't think Russia were all that inclined to start raining Nukes down on our head, but at the time, that's what we believed because that's what we were told.

How young are you?? Weren't you around when they brought down the Berlin Wall, in 1989 I believe, signifying the END of the Cold War, I can't believe you weren't born by then!!!
-
Check my profile im an 82 born, I rmember Alvin and the Chipmunks singing as it came down on their crappy cartoon. I just tend to think of the cold war as being back in the 50's -60's cos of all the old 5o's films.

Even before that there was a process of 'thawing' (er, not in the sense of getting into a Hot War).

Alright then, I guess politics is a bit much for a 7yr old. Even an event as big as that! ::)

That video is hilarious. They're trying to make like real Nazis, yelling and looking angry, but they just end up looking badly paid, washed-out actors playing a role they can't take seriously. The biggest threat these guys pose is if someone dies of laughter.
"Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil!"
Bwahahaha.

JEWS!!! JEWS!!! JEWS!!!  That was pure entertainment value.
I suppose I shouldn't be laughing, though. Best thing you can give your enemy is to not take them seriously.

Thats not Washington DC is it? :wtf:
Looks more like Boston.
-
It was merely at it's "hottest" then, that's why all the films were made.

:wtf: what a bunch of freaks ...
i fell of my chair as i heard how americans pronounce "Sieg Heil"

Honestly, if there's one thing I hate more than racists, it's unoriginal racists. Make your own damn party, stop mooching off a long-dead party that everyone instantly hates. If they had any sense at all, they'd keep all their Nazi-esque tendancies, but reform themselves under the terrifying standard of the "Nice-people Party". Intelligent people won't vote for them either way, but they'd at least get the dumb-people vote, which might actually win it for them... :p
Lovely, now i'm not sure why I feel dirty like I do; was it for presenting an option for a Nazi party getting into office, or presenting an option that might actually work... :nervous:
-
Honestly, if there's one thing I hate more than racists, it's unoriginal racists.
 Exactly my opinion on the matter.
"We're proud of being American!"
"Then why do you idolise an Austrian guy that America spent so long fighting a war against. True Americans should hate Hitler"
"Errr..."
EDIT : Actually this is the American Nazi party we're dealing with. The actual response would probably be along the lines of
"We never fought a war with Arnold Schwarzenegger" or "What Austrailian guy?"
-
They can't be Nazis. They don't understand the term! It's a contraction of NSDAP. They're not nationalist, socialist, German, or workers. :p
