After Kaz explaied that some limitations regarding number of subobjects and multi-part turrets have been lifter for a while now, I decided to make use of that knowledge...and re-do the Archangel!
Of course, given that the thing has 68 normal and 11 missile turrets, re-doing all of them would be pretty resource intensive..so I'm not gonna make all of the them multi-part, but I am gonna make em look better!
Now I have a pretty large collection of turrets (might put them all for download) but I wanted new ones...what do you think so far?

The big one is the main battery, the gattling one to the left is a PDS turrets and the others are sversion of standard single-part ones

hehe I was about to message you.
Shiv is missing at least two textures for Archangel (Xbeam02 and gtiship I think)
I just screwed around with some of his mod/pack A3 and just thought of something.
If Nukemod can replace fighter/bomber weapons on the fly. Such as Yukkikaze now has 6 ROTATING gatling guns instantaneously that originate outward from the firing points I made on the main model, can it not also be used to change out CAP SHIP weapons just as easily??? (note I need to start making weapon bases on models pre-conversion since they are auto placed now by the weapons/ship table)
We must poke Nuke about this!!!!
It was fun to have your battleship in game for the first time.
I was also gonna ask you a few things.
1.) Can I screw around with some of the textures
2.) I also as gonna see how some turrets look (from the collection you know)
3.) Why is it 4.5km? It's longer than SDF-1! (Are you compensating for something?) ;7

Which Archangel? Goobers' big anti-sathanas Archangel or a different one?

Eh Goober? No offense if I'm wrong but I thought it was Stratcomm's ship...
Trashman made a Battleship for Freelancer called the Archangel and ported it over to Fs2 (IIRC). The name was already taken around a year prior but it didn't matter. Try search for the relevant threads...

Nay, I made it for FS2 and Ferrium..it never saw Freelacner (hm..I did donate a shippack to one of the FL mods, but they just slaped a single basic metal texture on them and ..bah..terrible..)
As for your questions:
1. Screw around as much as you want.
2. Ya, I have terran and vasudan turrets galore..gonna put all the cobs together and release it.
3. It had to be big. I couldn't realisticly cram all that firepower into a smaller ship...AFAIK, many people still think it's too small.
As for hte textures:
gtiship01-03a.pcx - I don't recall it being used on the Archy..I don't use that one often. I did use it on the Orion Mk2 tough.
xBeam02.pcx - this one is used only on the archy missile launcher (on something that looks like a side-mounted laser sight), but IIRC it's a stock texture
EDIT - CORRECTION, it's gtiship01-04a.pcx (orion runway texture) and its is used on the Arhcy...damn, I really got to re-do that ship..I got textures that are barely used...harumph!
Hmmm...why do I have two indentical runway textures in my maps folder??? that one and capital01-04a.bmp
Just re-name hte texture to this one in PCS and all should be fine.

IIRC, Shivs mod uses 2 version of hte Archy..the old one and the new one. Old one has a differetn weapon config, different textures and a different ending.

What I like about it is that it looks like a real WW2 Battleship a little bit

It's not a Robotech ship, Getter. He doesn't care how big the SDF-1 is. It's a FREESPACE ship.

Because he classified it as a battleship I was just wondering why it was so freaking huge as I was flying around it!!! :lol:
It took forever to get from bow to stern and I kept saying to myself "this can't be right!" :D
I hadn't looked at the dimensions in modelview at first, just the textures.
Trash, when I said "The Collection" I meant the turret project. Thing is I honestly can't find the f-ing folder or I'd post a group shot... :mad: :mad: :mad:

BTW I really like the untextured one and the one right below it (combo)
Kazan just asked if FS2 supports dual turrets [P/S], have you tested that type out already???
Also when you post those can I repost them later in the turret pack? (you label would be -TRA- for Trashman)

Sure GRG.. I have absolutely NO problem whatsoever with people working or modifying my stuff.. teh more stuff the community gets, the merrier!
Havn't you noticed that I dont' hog models and wait till campaign release to give em to the masses? POWR TO THE PPL! ;7
Oh - the combo turrets and the big one in the middle are gonna be on my re-done archy ;7
I'm optimizing it a bit...once done it will use less textures..not to mantion I will add more detail!

i cant wait to see the new Archangel! currently it stands as the sathanis of my little world. vicious bugger that ship. any thoughts on revamping the Galaxy?

I might get around to it...It could use some bteer turrets and that front boxy antena is a sore poke in they eye!

Ah so that's where Shiv got the carrier from. I was gonna ask him for use of it for SAAB as an adv carrier to replace the aging design of the Saratoga.

Just screwing around. I turned your combo turret into a ship and deleted your gun barrels but kept the stumps.
(ignore the temp texture as I wanted to do this quick)
I then put firing points for primaries in the middle of each stump. I messed up in scale BUT this was just a test.
In game as you can see the rotating machinegun barrels are added, Success!
I then proceeded to attack the Archangel out of irony. ;7 (no damage) :lol:

I felt sick and jumped in the shower.. Long night at work plus 3+ hours at the local mechanics (passed inspection, but found out I had 2 leaking rear struts= $426.00 total) damn...
Anyway I just realized a probable fatal flaw in my excitement.... This would only work for fighters OR static forward facing cap weapons as fixed turrets (appropriately sized cobs)...
Because THESE firing points won't rotate with the turrets and the pof's would always face forward right? :confused:
Oh and Beer weapons were already used, in Star Wreck VI: "In The Prikinning" remember? :lol:
