Title: Putin dissolves Russian government

MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin dissolved Russia's government Wednesday in a major political shakeup ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections, the Kremlin said.

Thoughts? The page says that this means a new prime minister is on the way. I think the article is worded badly, I'm not sure if this is a normal thing or not.

Either way, Kasparov is going to have a field day with this.

First they test the biggest vacuum bomb every created (http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSL1155952320070911), and then they dissolve their government? Do you guys have any idea what this means!?!

...Because I sure as hell don't.

I think it means the Russians are in a bad mood, and are calling an election. In that order.

What the chess player?

Yes, he retired from chess to become one of the main figures of Putin's oposition.

Just with a FOAB now, instead of a nuke, Nuke.  :drevil:
Hrm.. "****ton ordinance air blast"?

But yeah, it's just the dismissal of a PM to juice in his favorite for a successor, not some complete shift in the government paradigm as some would like you to fear.  Somewhat surprising, sure, but nothing worthy of getting your panties in a bunch.

A Non-Nuclear bomb with the destructive force of a nuclear bomb?

It's an N2 mine!

Looks like a "normal" Russian government shakeup to me.  They want new folks in specific positions for whatever plan they want to hatch in the future.  I think its a bit extreme that a whole cabinet has to be dissolved but it is Russian politics after all :)

Normal for Russia is violence. Until Yeltsin Russia had never managed a peaceful change of government.

Swantz, theres nothing to laugh about Russian elections. That's serious business, for various reasons.

Secondly, this is just business as usual in Russia. The "democratic system" there is so much different than those of the western countries, as are the people. Russians do things their way. They do not care how others do things, and they do not care what others think about them. That's why I respect them. And that's why Russian politics are so scary to a western average joe.

The Russians are just feeling a bit forgotten. Personally I wouldn't mind them being the world's new dominant super power. The Americans have done a **** job.

Nothing about Communism has been said, although the breakup is suspicious.

Guys, this bomb isn't even close to having the yield of a nuclear bomb. Little Boy had a yield of 13-16 Kilotons of TNT, while this thing only has a yield of 44 tons. Not an N2 mine at all. :doubt:

Yes but since nuclear weapons are politically difficult to use the latest craze is building the biggest non-nuclear "conventional" explosive that you can think of. We have the MOAB and the FOAB and I'm sure we'll have some sort of other family related bomb thats bigger than the rest sometime in the near future.  Perhaps the Grandmother of All Bombs? :)

Yeah, it's just that that article said this FOAB had the destructive blast of a nuclear bomb and I believed it, when it's actually a pretty gross exaggeration. Plus, you know... N2[/zup] mines... EVA... awesomeness...
