MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin dissolved Russia's government Wednesday in a major political shakeup ahead of parliamentary and presidential elections, the Kremlin said.

Thoughts? The page says that this means a new prime minister is on the way. I think the article is worded badly, I'm not sure if this is a normal thing or not.

Looks like a "normal" Russian government shakeup to me.  They want new folks in specific positions for whatever plan they want to hatch in the future.  I think its a bit extreme that a whole cabinet has to be dissolved but it is Russian politics after all

Normal for Russia is violence. Until Yeltsin Russia had never managed a peaceful change of government.

Swantz, theres nothing to laugh about Russian elections. That's serious business, for various reasons.

Secondly, this is just business as usual in Russia. The "democratic system" there is so much different than those of the western countries, as are the people. Russians do things their way. They do not care how others do things, and they do not care what others think about them. That's why I respect them. And that's why Russian politics are so scary to a western average joe.
