Are unhitable, unless hit with a weapon that causes splash damage. collision errors ftl. Is this planned to be fixed in the next release, because the second mission of TotT is very, very hard to beat unless you save all your trebuchets til the end

How many times will I have to post this?
DOWNLOAD THIS! (Did you even read the "ships with faulty collision detection" thread?)

I sort of assumed everything in the latest version of the mediaVPs had been fixed. and since It wasn't, I assumed it was not fixed. Honestly, the seperate downloads stuff is getting to me

'Latest,' meaning 'that version that was released like last year', and 'version' meaning 'a beta version that obviously won't have everything fixed if its a freaking beta version, which normally means NOT EVERYTHING IS WORKING YET.'
Bad things happen to people who complain about beta versions. People start disappearing. Then their families do. Then their friends stop going to Starbucks night...
-
It is sort of counter intuitive, when you think about it.
-
"Everything has been fixed" doesn't really go together with "Beta".

Is this planned to be fixed in the next release
<DSMART>
No. It's a carefully thought out, balanced design feature. It is working exactly as intended. If you're failing it, you're just doing it wrong. If you don't like it, don't play it.

The latest version does have it fixed. But its not done yet. The latet one you can get does have the problem, but there's a fix available.

Fixing this problem will make a particular frustrating mission in Blue Planet a lot easier. I am enthused!

Actually, DSmartism aside, you might be able to get away with that line:
There is an area about 1cm square on each arm that can intermittently be hit by certain primary weapons if they're fired from within the ship's geometry (the weapon's velocity appears to be the deciding factor).
Makes said BP mission pretty interesting...
-
Ahhh. . .
The infinite improbability factor.
-
I tested the newest version of the Ravana that's available. I never really noticed any collision errors with pretty much the entire ship (except for a few "potholes" here and there). If you still can't shoot the beams I might've missed something.
-
The new version works fine. This thread is all about the one in the beta MVPs that seems to have gone seriously wrong.
I don't think everyone is aware that the beta's aren't the definitive edition. Either that or they're too lazy to get the new model (like I was).
-
Where would I find the fixed Aten? The collision detection thread seems to have disappeared.
-
I don't recall there being one. What you can do though, is open the model in PCS2 and purge the BSP cache.
-
So why hasn't the beta been updated since last year?
-
Because that would delay the official release.
-
AFAIK we're basically waiting for a combination of a final 3.6.10 build to thoroughly test the content with,.....and DaB to have enough free time to reassemble and post it for internal testing. ;)
Oh and the new Aten is ready for release with the final build, but given how long that's taken I think I might release it separately if I find the final builds are expected to be a good while away.
