Title: T.V Atrocities
Post by: MR_T3D on October 16, 2008, 02:34:30 pm
what do you THINK are the worst atrocities (other than my sppelling) to face Brodcasted TV?

I'll start with futurama having maybe 5 seasons, while the ****sons are in the 20,000,000th.

And Firefly having one season, never in reruns, it was the best show EVER!

Damn you asinine morons at Fox

Of course the internet wouldn't never had made it off the ground with those kind of reality shows on basic cable.   :nervous:

Playing two good movies at the same time on different channels on FTA (free to air). No, we don't bother wasting $64*12 a year for pay T.V. that we would hardely ever watch, and we don't by many DVD's. Though I might when I live by myself...but only good ones...

btw soapy shows suck, in general. Some cartoons are boring, while others are allright. Also, playing Shrek 3timesayear is crap when it's always on Saturday night...

Does Naruto and Inuyasha count?

Atrocities? Hmm...any MediaCorp TV drama serial. In fact, to add a bit of salt, any drama or comedy show made by MediaCorp TV.

Ah, yes, one more thing...almost all children shows aired.

And add Pokemon too, because it's corny, repetitive, cliched, drawn out and boring. I used to like it, but after they hit seven seasons...

All they seem to care about these days is teaching children how to masturbate.

I don't know how you can call a franchise that's sold literally billions of dollars' worth of merchandise an "atrocity," particularly when it knows its target audience so well.  Pokemon was never intended to produce high drama. :p

Im going to have to object in the stongest possible turms to AE's mention of InuYasha in this thread. InuYasha is IMHO Rumiko Takahashi's Ultimate Series. Though I'm annoyed that the Anime ended with no resolution, the ending to the Manga was far better than the ending of Ranma1/2.

----
My next nomination: the Last two Episodes of Evangelion and then the End of Evangelion movie
----

Every power rangers series that doesn't have at least 2 of the original six as main characters. - Power Rangers started out good if cheesey in places, and jumped the shark (when changes were made after parents complained that the Lead villain was too evil). However, it was still half-way decent whilst it still had members the original team. Everything after Turbo was rape of the Super Sentai.

Bad Beetleborgs/Beetleborgs Metallics - Suffice to say that by making these two seasons Saban totally raped Jukou B-Fighter and B-Fighter Kabuto. The japanese series was infinitly superior to the **** that was shown on US/UK channels

Masked Rider - Again Saban rapes yet another brilliant japanese TV show. This time the Kamen Rider series: Kamen Rider BLACK RX and the movies Kamen Rider ZO and Kamen Rider J

Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight. - Wont start till next year. BUT going by the track record for American adaptations of the Tokusatsu series; this will a complete rape of Kamen Rider Ryuki

Basically almost everything by Saban except VR Troopers and MMPR S1-3

VR Troopers - Actually this was pretty decent. The premise was far better than power rangers. And it had the potential to be better than power rangers, with a far darker atmosphere. Alas Saban ruined it with tackey humour (Percy and Jeb the Talking Dog) and bad voice acting for the villains. However, for an amalgam of Choujinki Metalder, Jiku Senshi Speilban and Uchuu Keiji Shaider it was pretty good.

:D This is all with out mentioning the glaringly obvious costume differences between the Japanese footage and American Footage. Green Ranger's Armour springs to mind as the most obvious. You be the Judges

Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger     = Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers S1

@ Trashman
If you like, i could extend it to a complete Super Sentai list, which is even longer - currently there are 32 Super Sentai series.

I happen to like the Super Sentai series. And watching Super Sentai after growing up with Power Rangers, of course im going to know a lot about them. With the exception of MMPR and PR Time Force, I think the original Japanese shows are better. As i said in an earlier post, most of PR is rape of the Super Sentai

Actually, I prefer the Metal Heroes over the Super Sentai...Metal Heroes Series have a darker atmosphere

Metal Heroes:
1)The Uchuu Keiji (Space Sheriff) Trilogy
Uchuu Keiji Gavan
Uchuu Keiji Sharivan
Uchuu Keiji Shaider

2)Kyojuu Tokusou Juspion
3)Jikuu Senshi Spielban <-Second Favourite
4)Choujinki Metalder <-My favorite
5)Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya
6)Kidou Keiji Jiban

7)The Rescue Police Trilogy
Tokkei Winspector
Tokkyuu Shirei Solbrain
Tokusou Exceedraft

8)Tokusou Robo Janperson
9) Blue SWAT
10) Juukou B-Fighter
11) B-Fighter Kabuto
12) B-Robo Kabutack <(don't like)
13) Tetsuwan Tantei Robotack <don't like either

I personally think whoever came up with the idea of shows where one person is voted off every week should be shot. Cause they gave the TV companies a way to claim it was legitimate to extend shows like Dancing on Ice past the 4-5 week run they probably would have had otherwise.

So the death penalty is deserved for the crime of making something that was already ****, worse.
