There's something screwy about that video, though, KeepVid doesn't work on it. Which is a pity, I keep watching it. If there's a music video for this song, I don't want to see it. The feeling of this song (to me) is almost exactly how I feel (it is not exactly a feeling of victory or happiness...actually, it can be, but it does have a sad aspect to it). The ending is a different matter, however.

Track 20's more suited for lower-intensity or slower-paced combat...I can't off the top of my head remember any missions where it was used. Track 3 was used for a few urban hit-and-runs, and the high-speed high-intensity sort of combat you get from that kind of in-your-face situation it works well for.
Currently listening to "Upbeat 3" from Sins of A Solar Empire, IMO the best of the Sins battle music.

Byzantine Power Game - Peter Hajba - Max Payne
-
Do you have the ODST version?
No :(. I can't find it without the video attached. Biggest problem with that is that the ODST version has more epic than the normal version, which is played softly and with a higher singer. (playlist.com is where I get my music, so I don't technically "have it" per se anyway. it's just a playlist I can start when I'm online)
-
45 - Shinedown
I think I pegged what makes the ODST version so epic. The bass drum (sounds like the Drums of War), along with the change in tone of the singer toward the end.
Or it may not be. Those just caught my ear the last time I saw the trailer on TV.

Meh. Zimmer has a few awesome scores in his resume, but he also has a nasty habit of reusing themes across several movies. A habit that is unfortunately shared by people he has trained, like Klaus Badelt and Harry Gregson-Williams. Just listen to Pirates of the Carribean. Then listen to The Rock and Black Hawk Down. Then find the original stuff in Pirates. Or listen to Batman Begins, and then compare to the Da Vinci Code.
Bear McCreary FTW!
-
I concur. Zimmer does a very few things very well, but it really starts to wear. Around the time Transformers hit, I was like...ugh, come on, he and all his proteges just sound the same!

God. I went to a sleepover, and to my dismay, when I got there, all my friends wanted to do was watch the FF7 movie.

The "machineamb" tune originates from a track called "The Machine" made by the musician David Arkenstone, for the soundtrack for Westwood's Emperor: Battle for Dune, which was released in 2001. The "machineamb2" and "machinebattle" tunes all come from the "Harkonnen Force" track, also by the same artist.
The game has a few other good tracks in it, like "Victory is Inevitable" (orchestral electro-rock FTW) and "Fight in the Dunes,", the latter by Frank Klepacki, which is a sort of compilation remake of several tunes from Dune 2000 and Dune 2. I really like the dark percussion and orchestral style Frank uses. The soundtrack CD was released as part of a limited-release pre-order set; it might still be available somewhere (like eBay) BUT it does not contain all the game's tracks.
-
Ahh. Thank you for responding.
I felt a little ashamed of myself after I had asked those questions a time or two; I remembered that there's a musical credits document that came with BP!
However, it did not expand on where one might find the source tracks. Thanks.
-
I recognised those tracks (including "Summon the Worms" from the Children of Dune soundtrack by Brian Tyler) as soon as I heard them during the first time I played through BP, it was kind of surprising at the time.
-
Those Who Fight Harder is from FFVII: Advent Children, which isn't actually listed I think. (No, it's not on the OST, I know that, but it's playing through the start of the sequence with the dragonthingie).
In related news, I have obtained the Advent Children soundtrack. Nobuo Uematsu kicks Yoko Kanno's ass.

Various Dan Wentz pieces which Nix enhanced on the "Extra Music" package.
"Cinema" has to be my favorite musically, and I wish someone would make an expanded/new version of the track of greater depth, complexity, and length. If someone actually did that, that would be a really neat piece to cut into a FS "score;" it would be really suiting for a subspace mission, in my opinion.
"credits_new," the classic FS1 briefing music, has got to be one of my favs as well. The feeling the track exudes is just superb.
And finally, everyone's favorite, "Bite Me Jason." :D Truly, the best non-Main FS2 Campaign quotes ever devised. Ever. Though I give Axem's work a close second...

^I mostly agree with this. I fluctuate between Cinema2 and Breif1 when it comes to deciding on my fave FS briefing tracks.

-
maybe i was a little bit racist twards the culture that invented tentacle rape as a form of sexual entertainment, however i am not at all homophobic. if i was i wouldnt have been listening to judas priest for the last 3 months. i mean seriously look at the lyrics. a homophobe would be scared of them or completely fail to recognize their homoerotic nature. also i think its pretty badass that gaahl came out of the closet. its just a shame hes withdrawing from the metal world. i mean hes already put one guy in the hospital because of homophobic remarks from some rather immature individuals (may be why hes calling it quits).
a also think its better to voice your opinions than to keep them hidden. its better to be overtly prejudice than keep it hidden so that racism or whatever can manifest subconsciously. at least when its overt the offended parties may throw in their 2 cents and create a dialog in which opinions can change. meerly keeping your bigoted opinions opinions to your self wont change jack. i also kinda find it ridiculous how everyone jumps in to defend certain groups of people whom they do not belong. its ok to express a belief that something bigoted is wrong. but i find more than not its because of guilty of past bigotry which you have not had any part in and are trying to make amends, which is just backwards bigotry.

with all the jpop that gets posted in here, i kinda thought it was gay music month.
It can't be denied that most Japanese bands look girly. But I dare claim that Dir en grey has looked like a rather "normal" rock band for the past few years.

I'd like to be listening to Helmet - Unsung right now, but as (a.) I don't have the associated album and (b.) I have slow internet, that's not going to happen.
Thus, I'm just "listening" to Nuke rip on J-Pop.
For the record, I can't stand it either...

Yeah, opinions are good and everyone should have their own without having to fear for physical or mental violence because of them. Personally, I just don't usually find apop (or wpop?) to be particularly interesting. Apart from a very few acts, like Soundgarden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8nkHrv_4Mg&fmt=18) or old skool QOTSA, for example. But yeah. my $0.02 within the $ the world has.
