A lot of people have requested full versions of the three soundtracks used in Blue Planet: Age of Aquarius, so I've merged the ambient and battle tracks together into single audio files and put them online. Until I find a more reliable place to put them, I'm putting them up at Mediafire
You can find the three tracks here (http://www.2x-pensive.de/beli/files/bp/AoA-Soundpack.7z) (thanks to Belisarius for the hosting).
-
Thanks. :)
-
Weird. It let me download Razorback, but for the other two it wants me to verify my account, even though I don't have one. I don't plan on getting one, either.
-
I'm being asked to register to download on all of the songs , shame. Well atleast i can listen to them on the site!
-
Until I find a more reliable place to put them...
Windows Live SkyDrive? :nervous:
-
Google just gave me a "reported attack site" warning.
Could this perhaps be re-uploaded to somewhere else, like mediafire or rapidshare?
-
Uploaded to Mediafire.
-
Thanks Darius :D

I haven't finished Blue Planet Age of Aquarius yet but I'm working on it. However after listening to these music pieces I am amazed. They sound as if they were created by gaming studio. I couldn't tell the difference unless you told me. This is one thing I have like about Blue Planet AoA so far is how the music helps set the mood. So far I'm enjoying the campaign. I'll probably play through it again once the voice acting is released. I'm also eagerly awaiting Blue Planet: War in Heaven
-
They're not mine! Just making that very clear. The only one on there that is mine is the Joshua remix...the rest were taken from third-party sources.

Regardless. Excellent choices by whoever selected them. The Joshua remix was very good.
-
Was Joshua II actually based off the Joshua from the FreeSpace 2 soundtrack?
-
Loosely.
-
Upon the music replay, there were some elements of the original Joshua in Joshua II but there were some welcome differences certainly.
-
The only similarity I can find (and that I find only with great difficulty) is the piano. When I first saw the file name, I went, "What do you mean 'Joshua2'? It doesn't sound like a derivative of the Joshua tune in FS2!"
-
Great stuff here. I downloaded all 5, made a little "Blue Planet" playlist in WMP.
But hey, I still am not hearing my favorite tune from the campaign. It's that amazing theme that plays in that battle when the Shivans attack the Temeraire in that very brought glowy "grayish/silver" star system? I'm positive it's the one where the Vishnan warships show up at the end to eliminate the second wave of three Shivan warships.
The music that plays during that battle is STUNNING. I'd love to have it.
-
Just crack open the VP and extract the files :P

That music is from the mission, "Preserving the Balance."
Although I consider the music used in "Forced Entry" to be excellent, the music from PtB will always be my favourite.
-
Yes, Preserving the Balance. The music in that one just rocks the house. Nobody ever mentions it, they always talk about the themes that play during Forced Entry or the second to last mission ('Machine'). And those two are AWESOME, yes, but I love the PtB theme.
I'm actually redownloading FS2 SCP right now, should have Blue Planet again by the end of the day. Afterwards I'll certainly open up the VP and find me some amazing music :-).
-
Aim, by MaX, the guy who did the BtRL soundtrack.
-
by MaX
Wow, really? :eek2:
-
-
yes, the music/sounds used in blueplanet are amazing!
I like especially orchestral themes like the briefing Nr.09 track, but the ingame music choices for a space sim like freespace are quite good as they are^^
-
Just opened up the VP and made myself a nice playlist of Blue Planet in WMP. Was pretty easy, just had to install an Ogg codec. Listening to Aim now as I type this. It's GREAT stuff!
Darius seriously has a knack for applying music from the most random sources (Dune and Advent Children? Really???) and fitting them perfectly elsewhere. Blue Planet is like Goodfellas in that regard. I vote we make Darius the Scorcese of HLP. :D
-
Get Audacity, Javito: http://audacity.sourceforge.net
It reads WAV and OGG files, but if you add LAME into it, it becomes an OGG-MP3 converter-editor-player. ;)
-
What's the battle music in "Preserving the Balance," mission 14? Listening through the uploaded tracks, it doesn't appear to be any of them, unless my ears seriously deceive me.
-
Yeah, the online folder pretty much contains the soundtrack files merged together into single songs, since it's not readily available from the VP. As far as I know, extracting the song from the VP should be enough to play it externally (+/- converting to MP3 or other format).
-
Well, they're OGG files, so Winamp, WinLAME and XMPlay can open them. Audacity can open and modify them, as well as export them into MP3 format if equipped with LAME.
-
Upload aim to that folder, so more people can have access to it, especially people who heard the song when I put it in my my YouTube movie but don't play Freespace.
-
Do you have the original Razorback track? This one is cut off for use in FS2.
-
Darius left all the nice bits intact, though, so I actually prefer Razorback to Those Who Fight Further.
-
Aim has been uploaded to the folder.

What? Those two songs aren't the same, if I'm listening to the right track.
-
I believe Darius made Razorback by remixing Those Who Fight Further.
-
If by remixing you mean cutting out some parts and leaving the rest.
EDIT: Those Who Fight Further (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVpJkA4vaBQ)
-
Heh. :p
-
Either way, Razorback has definitely defined itself as an awesome battle track and i personally like it more than where it came from originally =P
-
I agree. Those Who Fight Further is kind of lame.
-
I wouldn't say it was lame, Battuta. More like drawn-out, noisy and boring, in my opinion. Razorback does the whole song justice by removing all the boring bits and keeping (and looping?) the best parts intact. :)
-
So it's not lame, it's just lame?
Thanks for posting!
-
Great soundtrack, except I thought one of them was too upbeat for no reason in the middle of the mission with nothing happening, but that's probably unavoidable unless you sync all the songs with the action.
-
What are the rules for using these songs in our own creations? Are we allowed to do so if we give credit where it is due?
-
Sure. In fact, that goes for all BP assets, unless specifically noted otherwise.
-

Doesn't that have to do more with giving credit to the original creators?
-
That too. Most of the music wasn't actually adapted much for FreeSpace, just converting them too ogg, and normalizing them to fit the rest of the soundtrack.
-
What's the name of brief09 (the one used on the first BP release)?
I wan't to listen to the hole song.
-
Read the re-release credits. And since it's also the credits track, you can listen to it in its entirety there.

Just what I was needing, thnks.
-
Excellent usage of Planet Killers by Paul Ruskay.
In fact, the whole soundtrack was awesome and fitting.
-
Hello. One question. Why Max's 'aim' track sounds slightly different from your 'aim' track, Darius? I've converted the original track to OGG and sounds just equal. There are some instruments and percussions that are missing in your track.
-
Darius has remixed some of the music used in BP.
Gotta ask him about it, I guess.
-
This reminds me that the version of the 2ND Reality used in BP sounds different than the original by Skaven.

BP version of "Aim" was from a link that Max posted in the BtRL forums a while back..it may well have been a WIP version.
Now I'm interested to hear your copy to see how it's different. I must've heard that song hundreds of times by now.
-
If it is indeed different could you post the link to the other track?
-
Here (http://www.bomb-mp3.com/download.php?mp3_id=1883152&title=__MaX__%20-%20REQUIEM%20-%20Aim%20(Fight%20Theme))
There is a slight difference from the beggining. And a very noticeable difference from the minute 1:45.
-
It is quite different in different places.
-
Awesome. Seems to be a bit of remastering, some different instrumentation and percussion added in.
I'll add it to my collection. Good to see this song getting some new life to it :D
-
Glad to help. Now you have a new one for BP: WiH ;)
-
Pshh, I'm putting this in AoA too. :P
-
Belisarius has kindly offered to host the AoA music files in a much less dodgy location than previously.
-
So, erm, where's the tracks from War in Heaven now? :nervous:

In the VP files. We will host those which are original work by team members, but we cannot ethically redistribute those which are copyrighted.
-
Speaking of which, which of the files are original that aren't from AoA?

From what I remember:
aney2.ogg
icarus2.ogg
ken.ogg

You could tell us where they came from. I swear some of those tracks like d9amp, d9death, and twamp sound very familiar somehow....
-
All external sources of assets are credited in credits.tbl, and thus in tech room credits room.

Yep, as Fury said, we've made no secret of it - credits.tbl contains the source of every external track.

Great soundtrack. I would love it to hear some songs of the Sunshine OST in the next chapter (especially 'the surface of the sun' would be so much win).

We looked at that OST a lot for inspiration. It's definitely a favorite.
