How many TCs(i.e. big mods featuring many new ships, weapons and such) within the FreeSpace Universe are currently in development and might be released very soon? I know about Inferno's mods and Earth Defense...but what about the others? :)

And it's not merely models. The ammount of modding, stuff and effort going into ASW make it a TC.

I honestly don't see any coming out anytime soon, I'm most eager for WCS but every new post I see that appears once a month is merely an "AWSM MOD GUYZ!" comment.

You're looking for things like Inferno, BWO, and BP, both of which take place within the Freespace Universe, but both of which feature many new ships as an integral part of the lineup.

A Total-Conversion is a standalone project. There can be standalone projects within the FS universe.

As far as I know BP doesn't use exclusive ships.
I was actually refering to dedicated projects featuring exclusive models, textures and music(like Inferno, TVWP and Earth Defense).

Yet still, I don't think WiH can(or even should) be classified as a TC.

This is true! :) While we use plenty of standard Terran and Shivan Ships, much more will be new and especially for the Tiigran-Merisst navy which will be completely new. While we just released the Demo earlier to give fans a taste of what's to come, I can say it's only the tip of the iceberg of what's to come. ;7

for my self a tc is a total conversion , totaly converted so i take that to mean i wont see any of the models or story lines or links to present past or futurs within the freeespace universe
for me a tc is TBP or fate of the galaxy etc etc as this is truly totaly converted it also has the secondary aspect of not needing the core files and there for is standalone but hey as long as ppl keep making stuff i will be eternaly grateful
except to ppl who write in blue ink ;7

I take that back. Were you to replace all existing ships, then sure I guess you could call it one, but I don't think any of those exist.

So if Inferno was a 96% total conversion, TotT would be around 40-50%. We're actually going to have to kick like a dozen ships out of the .tbl for the chapter in T-M space, so there will be some conversion to it.
BTW- any part time FREDders out there with too much time on their hands?

INFERNO IS A MOD,,,,,, with a chang to the sourc cod to allow it to have more ships.......A war with old friends, the return of old enemies. But can either be stopped in time to save humanity?

as long as your campaign rsts in the fso universe it is a mod a camaign not a total convrsion
this is not an arguement this is a statment of fact
mobious's question is wrong , in its presentation , he is asking what mods are in wip and not what tc's are in wip

I thought total conversions were the ones like the WCS or TBP when no FreeSpace ships are ever used, because it's a separate universe.
I wouldn't qualify BP as a total conversion, because it's still FreeSpace.

They still use FreeSpace style interfaces. WCS is working on changing that though.

BP is a campaign using mods from Stratcomm, Aldo and a few others. That's pretty much it :)
