What is it? I'm talking about the "MTS Model descriptions" that appear on a couple of the articles (e.g. the Myrmidon (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GTF_Myrmidon)). What does it stand for? We've been puzzling over it in IRC and noone can figure it out :D
-
It happens to stand for "MeTaStream (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetaCreations_Corp.)".
For those of you who used to visit www.freespace2.com, you may remember it. Metastream was a way to view the FreeSpace ships in pseudo-3D without having the model. It was a preview system that was used on the website.
I personally haven't been able to get Metastream working again, but there you go. For some reason or another Wikipedia accuses MetaStream of being adware/malware, but I dunno.
Example: Myrmidon in Metastream (http://web.archive.org/web/20051227034737/www.freespace2.com/shipsmts.cfm?ID=13)

Well....How nice of them to use something flash-like that doesn't work anymore....
-
Shouldn't the wiki be changed to say "Metastream" instead of "MTS" then?
-
Or we could just have an explanation page.
-
I can't remember ever seeing the abbreviation MTS, so I'm going to have to agree with DroidBot on this one.
-
It was probably a decision made very long ago, or by a single person without other people's consent (unilateral agreements? kind of an oxymoron there).
-
MTS (http://www.mts.ca/)?
-
Since acronyms may cause confusion - as you can see here -, I have renamed the "VW Articles" category to "VolitionWatch Articles".
-
MTS (http://www.mts.ca/)?
Malaysian Tarantula Society
-
Buh. All MTS replaced with MetaStream.
-
That Myrmidon MTS description is better than the one actually used, more detailed.
-
Same goes for the Alastor.
EDIT - Added links from all the appropriate articles to a MetaStream article to clear up any confusion. Only a dumbass will get confused now. :nervous:
