He isn't advertising anything that I can see, I could see him viewing the thread for some time after it had appeared, and he appears to have a moderate grasp of the English grammar and vocabulary.
I say give him a benefit of doubt, man. :p
I say give him a benefit of doubt, man. :pI am. I was thinking about locking and reporting, but didn't do so. Yet.
lets face it the guy got flamed for on his first postNot flaming: presenting doubts about his humanity. After seeing n + 2 different (but very similar) variants of that generic first post at Game Warden. Never mind the whole internet. I mean if he's a person, and let's assume that he is because otherwise people seem to get too angry, why would he make his first post so generic? So generic that you can't be sure at all that he even knows about FreeSpace. Everything is possible, but that just is rather unlikely.
lets face it it isnt alot of work for a mod to ban themIt is actually. Moderators are incapable of banning users. Administrators would achieve better results at that.
Furthermore, this guy hasn't even said he's interested in the game. This post is so generic that it could potentially have been posted on practically any public forum on the internet. This arouses my suspicions just a bit.
He signed up toseveral dozenat least 1,000 different forums on a huge variety of subjects (from some African society for the protection of endangered parrots to a horse racing firm forum to some timeshare company in Aruba to here at HLP), all between 10am and 4pm today.
How so many so fast and why?A bot can do a lot real fast. And if it has seriously managed to join a lot of forums in a short while, it might (at first) be the creator's way of saying "**** you" to all the captchas.
This reminds me of a book I read where AI was born of the constant battle between spambots and anti-bot software. The bots had to get more human to fool the filters, and the filters had to get more human to tell the difference. Vicious cycle, AI is born.
banbanbanbanbanban...
Maybe his true goal was to let us think he was a bot so we would spam the thread, thereby making US the spammers. This course of action yielded especially successful results.
What a nefarious plot!
I prefer the "beam the newbie" theme rather than this one if you ask me, at least the other one was funnier.
And I was ready to roll out the Ye Olde HLP Welecome Speeche!
I just like Ye Olde HLP Welecomee Spechee.Spell check ftw Perhaps there
