Title: Haloboy - The Return
Post by: General Battuta on March 18, 2010, 03:50:38 pm
Another part of Interplay's bull**** advertising strategy that ruined Freespace's popularity. :(

Ah, I remember the first time in like '99 where I got the Freespace 2: Colussus Demo disk that came with my Microsoft force feedback joystick. I played that demo for at least a year and a half, over and over again, until it FINALLY came in the mail after waiting six months for it to get here from Interplay (apparently they had stock issues or something).

And that's when I started the campaign over and over again for years while playing squadwar back in the days of the PXO network...
It took me a year of playing that campaign over and over again until I realized just exactly the story to FS2 was about and got hyped to play FS1 after realizing that Interplay still had it for sale. :P

and then the days came of playing multiplayer online. DarkWing was a good squadron while it lasted...

You're ALIVE. Where have you been?

Bored of Freespace. I'll probably disapeer in a few days again. :P

To be honest I'm just here because this is the only website my school hasn't blocked and the teacher is right next to me so I can't use my proxy...

Go play Blue Planet with voice acting! I SPENT YEARS ON IT!

To be honest I don't like playing other peoples' campaigns. It makes me feel guilty for not making my own.

You're thinking it the wrong way. People work their arses off, spending every shred of their free time to create these campaigns. How do you think they'll feel if other people won't play their campaigns?

Well that's what everybody else is for. I'm just one person, who doesn't even post here very often anymore. I don't think it's a difference if I enjoy their campaign or not. :P
Even if I do enjoy a campaign, I tend to keep those opinions to myself now.

It really, really is. We spend hours of our time on these projects with no reward except the expectation of an audience.

The only reason we muddle through is because we expect people will actually play them.

I don't think we should talk about this. It's getting off-topic.

Have you no enjoyment of the creative birth?

I will never view your works, shallow one!

Well, too bad. There's a whole lot of awesome you're going to miss....

EDIT:  Comment removed, because it makes no sense now that the post I was responding to has been deleted.

Mate, even a top-flight campaign is lucky to get a few hundred downloads. Breaking a thousand is a major milestone. Every player is precious, and every bit of intelligent feedback even more so.

I can't even tell who you're calling an idiot, but that post was considerably less thoughtful and intelligent than I've come to expect from you. Especially as I'm plugging for every campaign in existence here; it's a philosophical point.

There was another post before mine.  Seems to have been deleted.  Began with a supposition that doing campaigns for publicity was stupid, postulated that there were "a grand total of 15 people and a dog" on HLP, then went on to general mockery.

Ooooh. Well now I owe you an apology!

Stupid post deleters.

You are absolutely 100% out of your mind.

It almost makes me want to play your campaign.

If someone has been deleting posts in here some time after they've been posted, please cut it the hell out.  As should be evident, it turns the thread into an unreadable mess.

So, um, why do you keep editing your posts? At the moment you're our leading culprit for Phantom Post Deleter.

Look, good people, I really didn't mean to destroy this thread to such an extent.

Tell you what: no more deleting posts. Bewilderingly comprehensive edits will increase to compensate, but nonetheless I expect that less threads will catch fire and fall over whenever I walk by. It's tough to do the right thing, but with all of you standing far enough behind me I expect to get to a safe distance before anyone can react.

Uh, while it may be a bundle of laughs, it is a weee bit disruptive.

Maybe you could just get it right the first time?
I know I make pretty hefty edits on my posts sometimes, but I've yet to see that cause any disruption of discussion or  confusion...

And, wow. First I become "greatest guy on HLP" and now I have my own thread regarding my return. The joy.
