Haloboy - The Return
Another part of Interplay's bull**** advertising strategy that ruined Freespace's popularity. :(

Ah, I remember the first time in like '99 where I got the Freespace 2: Colussus Demo disk that came with my Microsoft force feedback joystick. I played that demo for at least a year and a half, over and over again, until it FINALLY came in the mail after waiting six months for it to get here from Interplay (apparently they had stock issues or something).

And that's when I started the campaign over and over again for years while playing squadwar back in the days of the PXO network...
It took me a year of playing that campaign over and over again until I realized just exactly the story to FS2 was about and got hyped to play FS1 after realizing that Interplay still had it for sale. :P

and then the days came of playing multiplayer online. DarkWing was a good squadron while it lasted...

You're ALIVE. Where have you been?

Re: How did you get [into] FreeSpace?
Bored of Freespace. I'll probably disapeer in a few days again. :P

To be honest I'm just here because this is the only website my school hasn't blocked and the teacher is right next to me so I can't use my proxy...
Fun while it lasted.

Then bitter.

Go play Blue Planet with voice acting! I SPENT YEARS ON IT!

Re: How did you get [into] FreeSpace?
To be honest I don't like playing other peoples' campaigns. It makes me feel guilty for not making my own.

You're thinking it the wrong way. People work their arses off, spending every shred of their free time to create these campaigns. How do you think they'll feel if other people won't play their campaigns?

Well that's what everybody else is for. I'm just one person, who doesn't even post here very often anymore. I don't think it's a difference if I enjoy their campaign or not. :P
Even if I do enjoy a campaign, I tend to keep those opinions to myself now.

It really, really is. We spend hours of our time on these projects with no reward except the expectation of an audience.

The only reason we muddle through is because we expect people will actually play them.

I don't think we should talk about this. It's getting off-topic.

Have you no enjoyment of the creative birth?

I will never view your works, shallow one!

Well, too bad. There's a whole lot of awesome you're going to miss....

Re: How did you get [into] FreeSpace?
Mate, even a top-flight campaign is lucky to get a few hundred downloads. Breaking a thousand is a major milestone. Every player is precious, and every bit of intelligent feedback even more so.

I can't even tell who you're calling an idiot, but that post was considerably less thoughtful and intelligent than I've come to expect from you. Especially as I'm plugging for every campaign in existence here; it's a philosophical point.

Re: How did you get [into] FreeSpace?
There was another post before mine.  Seems to have been deleted.  Began with a supposition that doing campaigns for publicity was stupid, postulated that there were "a grand total of 15 people and a dog" on HLP, then went on to general mockery.

You are absolutely 100% out of your mind.

It almost makes me want to play your campaign.

If someone has been deleting posts in here some time after they've been posted, please cut it the hell out.  As should be evident, it turns the thread into an unreadable mess.
