After seeing the gunship Shivan Hunter is making, I got the crazy idea of trying to make a ship in 3d too even though I knew little of 3d. I'm used to blasting things in 3d, not making them, I tried a few programs that I couldnt understand a thing on them but eventually found google sketchup which was much, much easier to get into.
Since I just happen to be rewatching Babylon 5 at the moment (going through 3rd season now) I decided to do a fighter for Mars, something that they would eventually build to compete with the EA Thunderbolt.

Any comments are helpful, now to try making a Narn cruiser.

Hmm.
I don't know anything about B5 designs, so I can't really give you any feedback there, but there's one thing that kind of sticks out on the model- unbalanced distribution of detail. The outside of the wing-things is a single polygon, but you're using a huge amount of polys in those cylinders. (they're prominent in your first pic; I assume they have something to do with weapons). Detail should usually be distributed more evenly than that, since you're using a bunch of polys there that you could be using somewhere else.
Is this your first try at making a model? It's impressive if it is. My first was a cube stacked on another cube with a rim on the edge. Then again, I was using Truespace :P

To be short, it looks too Narn. EA ships are in love with those flaps and engine pylons like the Skylark I think it was.

It is indeed impresive for a first time model, good work

At least in its untextured state I get the Narn vibe too, though it looks good nonetheless.

I think it's the large triangles, especially in image 03 that give it the Narn vibe especially when compared to http://babylon5.wikia.com/wiki/Frazi_class_heavy_fighter. My recommendation would be to break them up with greabling/normal map and/or separating the shapes.
Otherwise it looks good and its only from the upper profile that it reminds me of a narn ship. I think it would also help if you gave the canopy a little more attention.
Keep up the good work, i cant wait to see how this turns out

I was gonna say that it could almost be a pre-Frazi Narn fighter.

Yeah, I had actually made the gun first then copied it to the ship's mode so the gun ended up with more detaill. The main reason why everything is so blocky and angular is that I still dont know how to make curved surfaces, I had originally wanted to make the front of the ship like the F-4 Phantom but that was proving too difficult so I went for something more angular.

Thanks. Yeah, aside from being easier to do I had also failed to mention I have a slight bias towards Narn ships (they're awesome!). ;) A few images of the turret for the cruiser:
