i figure the bat would have succumb to the immense drag forces on his body and fall from the shuttle long before the ship made the space boundary, probably getting incinerated in the process. but brownie points for trying.

Well there's an easy way to check that (the answer is yes) and an even easier way to figure out whether it matters (the answer is no)

It was kind of overshadowed by other scrolling shooters. And it was hella early (was it made in the 80s? Must've been 90s. . .)
