needs Opera as the anti-social rich kid and Safari as an egotistical douche who thinks he owns everything

for me its just amazing to have witnessed the pwnage of standards-compliant browsers, and overall opensource projects (Chrome / Firefox being open source, Safari having created webkit) over the proprietary standard-****ter all around douche which was IE 6.

The browser wars have gotten ridiculous.  Its like can't browse the internet without seeing a juvenile thread ob how chrome is better or how firefox is better. Except here, of course, this place is pretty mature.

Yeah here we just stick to the "Safari is a douchebag" mantra. Maturity FTW

Apple users as a bloc have brought it upon themselves. That's not to say every person who buys a Mac believes they have esoteric superpowers, but the culture around it seems to believe so.

I have to admit I don't see any real monopoly of douchebagness from the part of mac users.

I also see a lot of douchebagness from people who are eager to say how awesome their linux is, how retarded other OSes are, how android just kicks ass coz its possible to root it (wow really), etc.

and me in da middle watching the flares going by... it's quite the fun

I was simply stating the point that PC vs Console is my preferred troll/flame bait viewing topic.

i dont like chrome because its too dependent on drive caching. needless to say i have a laptop in my room which has the sole purpose of watching porn on the internet (granted i also use it to terminal into my workstation downstairs). this machine is a peice of ****, it boots a stripped down xp off of a 16gb compact flash card, giving it horrifically slow file read/write access. on top of that it has serious power issues, issues that cause the computer to shut down at random. needless to say while chrome reports file error after fire error, because of the random shutdowns, firefox does not even seem to notice them. firefox is a little more stable, but slightly less responsive than chrome is after a chkdisk run. if chrome happens to be running durring a power down, then next time it runs chrome will act like a doped up retard with a concussion. firefox after the same kind of power failure, will just chug along as if nothing happened. the only reason i use chrome on that system is because of its perceived minimalist design. if it reduces its memory footprint by whoring up drive space, then its merely hiding its memory usage in the much slower hd cache.

Tbh Nuke, that's the first post that I think I've ever seen that actually compares the browsers on technical terms. Tbh other than a few UI differences (I like Chrome's "Close all tabs to the right" function), I really don't notice that much of a difference. :\

As for the douchebagginess thing...aren't Windows/Linux users being a bit douchebaggy themselves when any time Apple or Macs are brought up, they take the time to say how douchebaggy the "cult of mac" is? I mean...I agree but does it really need to be brought up every time? That sort of behavior kind of perpetuates it; if everyone just ignored it then the people who take part in it would lose the most vital thing to them; the attention. :)

Personally I just ignore the computers. They make good products, I don't like their pricing model and I use Windows already; thus, I have no reason to switch. I own an iPhone and iPod, they're good, solid products, though I wish both of them would do away with the design-for-design's-sake aesthetic and included some of the protection that my aftermarket cases supply.

i should point out that it was not a common usage scenario but a special circumstances one where firefox wins ahead. reason i still prefer firefox is because of how modular user files are. i can dump my profile folder on another machine and have my browser configured exactly the way i like it. im sure the same thing can be done with chrome and even ie, but i know how to do it with firefox. that argument also works with why i use windows, in windows i know how to install drivers, manage drives, and fix glitches. if i knew how to do these things on linux, i would have more of a reason to use it. when asked about macs, my reason for not owning one is simple, i like to build my computers. frankly as far as oses go, im really looking forward to when reactos goes beta. open source windows compatible os ftw!

when there is that much marketing going on every opportunity must be taken to counter it.

well IE users at least aren't as stupid as the people who thought a good idea for a study was the average IQ of different browser users.

I have to say that I prefer Firefox over most other browsers, even if it's only due to the fact that it was the only browser we could run off a memory stick at school that allowed us to watch porn access Hard-Light on the school computers.
