Title: What Western TV are you watching?
Post by: Phantom Hoover on October 18, 2013, 12:44:35 pm: Having Western TV folded into the anime thread just isn't working, the anime discussion just drowns it out.

For my part, I have been intensively watching Parks and Recreation after I realised BBC 4 weren't going to show it again for like a year, so I might as well catch up.

Also watched Whites on Hulu. Not bad, but not outstanding.

currently im watching the walking dead, revolution, and south park, and ive been watching classic doctor who episodes as fast as i could download it from ~~the pirate bay~~ a perfectly legitimate source.

Once that's all finished (one more season to go) heading off towards S3 of the Walking Dead, Breaking Bad (from beginning) and whatever else is on Netflix

The ones on the PVR include NCIS, Supernatural, Mentalist, Bones, Strikeback and Big Bang Theory

I have also been meaning to check out Defiance

I'll go a few weeks and torrent a few at a time or sometimes just wait until the end of the season and get it all at once. Have watched Agents of Shield so far. Nothing to write home about IMO, feels like an attempt to milk off of the Avengers really. Oh yeah, and NCIS, though I kinda forgot about that after doing the season all at once thing and haven't watched it since Ducky

The last thing I really got excited about was LOST, and I gave up on that after about 3 seasons when it became obvious the writers had no idea where they were going with it. I do feel like I'm pretty much obligated to sit through Breaking Bad at some point though...even the random portions of a few episodes I've seen are so goddamn good.

Considering watching Caprica as a follow-up - any thoughts? I'm not into family drama, but Baltar and Adama are both wonderful characters to learn about.

So far the only thing that bothers me is how Moriarty character turned out to be. I really expected someone very different.

Post by: StarSlayer on October 28, 2013, 10:36:54 am: Sherlock is pretty awesome, especially if you have read the books and how they subtly play off them. Its also funny how they can repeat Watson's back story in the 2010 the same as it was in 1880.

Finally got see Tucker and Dale vs Evil this weekend. It was a wicked hoot.

For you Wing Commander fans, though you probably already know, Blair, Maniac and Tolwyn are all in there. It's good stuff. I wish it had continued.

I've been watching that as well. Kinda disappointed by how the writers are handling female characters, but at the same time, thoroughly enjoying The "Dorian and John Snark at Each Other" Hour.

Push through. Season 4 is not my favourite, but it definitely starts weaker than it ends.

Push through, the show will settle back into its usual configuration eventually.

I was really hoping for a three way rumble between the PKs, Scarens and Nebari. If we had gotten that for season IV I would have been pleased as punch. Still the first season will always be my favorite, butt monkey Crichton that still managed to rise to the occasion will always be my favorite Crichton.

Probably move back to the I.T. Crowd after.

Just caught up on Arrow over the course of a couple of weeks.
Just started (duh) The Flash. So far, kinda meh, but it might go somewhere yet.
Watching Farscape in between other stuff. Only S1 so far.
Castle and Burn Notice, both along with the wife.

Haven't started the latest season of:
The Blacklist (omgood), Agents of SHIELD, Person of Interest, Falling Skies, Criminal Minds, Homeland.

Awaiting new season of Sherlock.

WANT to start... too much to list. :p

Yes, it's going on right now I believe. Download a program called "TV Rename (http://www.tvrename.com/)" (note: not to be confused with "TV Renamer"). Alongside properly renaming TV show files, it also has a handy "what's airing when" capability.

It's one thing if "tech babble" is so far out there that it's more or less just a string of terms with little meaning and you can still suspend disbelief (I.e. like in Star Trek).

It's another if the constantly displayed "tech babble" is not just blatantly obviously false and contradicts basic textbook scientific fact, but outright moronic to a degree that it hurts. (Fringe).

X-Files didn't suffer from this or at least never to a degree where it made me want to throw the remote at the screen. ;-)

Such a pretentious show, but I enjoy it for what it is.

The slow motion shots of snails crawling...the overuse of on-the-nose metaphorical, dreamlike imagery...Hannibal's foppish lines about food...Hugh Dancy's overacting...

I've never seen anything like this on TV, before.
