Seems they found a star orbiting the galactic center at very high speeds.

YAAAAAAY!!!! Astronomy and astrophysics!!! Finally, something other than CP's pointless ramblings about math concepts (without having anything to apply them to). :p

Saw this yesterday; it's a good thing they have some experimental evidence for this now, as I have been quite a supporter of this "galactic black hole" theory. :D

Anyone ever watch that old Disney movie "The Black Hole"? :D

I remeber after seeing that, being always fascinated with them. Then after reading "A brief history on Time" I came to realise they're even MORE interesting! No doubt theres some huge black hole thingymajig spinning our galaxy peacefully, I'm just wondering when it'll start acting up again! :)
I have returned... Again...

seems there's black holes about everywhere, so why not a big one in the center of the galaxy, after all. Always sounded logical to me, somehow.

Well, the opposing "cosmic string" theory had some support a few years ago as a solution to the dark matter problem, but this one seemed to fit the facts better at least to me. :)
